Jason was his team’s leading goal scorer from U-16 to U-18 and tied for the leading goal scorer in the PCSL in 2013. He would like to be a member of the TRU cross country squad if he had to choose another varsity team because Jason likes to run. His greatest sports moment came when he was a rookie with the WolfPack and they finished with the silver medal at the CCAA Soccer Nationals in New Brunswick. He says the best thing about being a varsity athlete at TRU is the environment: “Even when we are working hard we are having fun,” he says. Jason likes the “Toys 4 Kids” event because it feels good to be giving to those who usually don’t get toys for Christmas. His favorite visiting field is Trinity Western because of its natural grass. The three items Jason would take to a desert island would be a loudspeaker, a yacht and the boys so they could have a ‘solid’ beach day. Jason’s cousin Jordyn Huitema is the youngest player on Canada’s National women’s soccer team. Jason likes trap music and says Mos Def is his favorite artist. Nine is his favorite number and he enjoys hiking, hanging with the boys and dancing. “Step Brothers” is his favorite movie, with Will Farrell being his favorite actor.

Something most people don’t know about Scott is that he plays the guitar. Adam says he would like to dine with Boston Celtic and Kamloops native Kelly Olynyk but only if he would pick up the cheque. Adam’s fondest sports moment was assisting on the winning goal in the last seconds of extra time in the 2014 BC “AAA” High School championships. He was about to take a free kick and instead went in the 18 yard box to flick it to a teammate. After the goal, the whistle blew and the fans stormed the field. His Sutherland team lost only one game all year.

When asked about what he likes about being a TRU athlete, Finlay says “The atmosphere around the whole athletics department is positive. It’s very flexible with school which makes life easier as a student athlete. Over the past few years, the program seems more like one big family and it’s an awesome atmosphere to be a part of.” Finlay’s greatest moment as a member of the Pack was scoring his first Canada West goal against UVIC with his father in attendance (his late father had brain cancer at the time). Finlay’s favorite visiting field is Nonis at UBCO because he grew up practicing there and little did he know it would be an ‘away’ ground for when going to university. INSIDE THE WOLFPACK

REMEMBERING SEB GARDNERThe WolfPack men’s program lost one of their own this past spring. Former player and assistant coach Sebastian Gardner (Vernon, BC) succumbed to cancer. Gardner joined the ‘Pack as a player in 2007 and was a PACWEST all-star in 2012. He later joined the coaching staff. He was 28. A memorial scholarship has been established in his memory.

This year’s edition of the WolfPack spent a week in Oregon playing three exhibition matches and doing some team bonding. This included going on a 10 km run, visiting the Adidas national factory and watching a MLS Portland Timbers match (Photos by Justin Donaldson and Jon Shephard).

The WolfPack had two CIS Academic All Canadians in 2015-16: Keeper Claye Harsany (High River, AB) is in the Bachelor of Science program while forward Ryan Glanville (Williams Lake, BC) is in the Masters of Business program. Glanville was also a 2nd team Canada West all-star. He is the first ever TRU soccer player to achieve an all-star recognition since the program moved into CIS.

TRU WolfPack in action

The WolfPack are involved in a number of community endeavors during the season. This includes the “Raise a Reader” campaign for literacy programs in Kamloops, being involved in Terry Fox runs in local high schools and the ‘Toys 4 Kids’ campaign at Christmas time. As well, many Kamloops Youth Soccer Association mini teams are invited to their matches where the Pack have them join in the opening ceremonies and later, have an autograph session.
