We had the largest attendance that we have had in many years at the annual banquet held September 2014 at Wolfert’s Roost. In addition, the Harriet Bahn awardees (for both 2013 & 2014) were honored at the banquet which is a new tradition established by the Board. In collaboration with the Northeast Health Foundation, we are able to reduce our expenses significantly for database management, newsletter layout and printing, mailings and website design and management. We are in the process of revising the Bylaws so they are compliant with a new law passed in 2014 titled the NYS Nonprofit Revitalization Act. In hopes of attracting more alumni to participate, the Program Committee is planning a summer social event for the July General Membership meeting, so keep your eyes open for an upcoming notice. It was with sadness that the Board of Directors decided to retire the annual Silver Tea. Although a long-standing tradition of the Alumni, its attendance had been waning for several years therefore making it difficult to maintain. Check out the new website: http://www.nehealth.com/son/ alumni_association/Memorial_School_of_Nursing_Alumni_ Assoc./ Continued on page 2 Greetings from Deborah Elliott, President Welcome to 2015 and on behalf of the Board of Directors, we hope the New Year brings you good health and much happiness! is coming year should be an exciting time for the Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and the nursing profession as a whole! We are very pleased to provide you with this first edition of our newly revised newsletter with special thanks for the assistance from the Northeast Health Foundation and leadership from Dianne White ’84, member of the MHNAA Board of Directors. As a recap of MHNAA in 2014 and looking ahead, I share the following: e Alumni Board of Directors welcomed three new board members in 2014: Kathleen Kodra-Carlock ’82, Dianne White ’84 and Dottie Faulkner ’10. Dave Burke ’10 assumed the role ofTreasurer in January 2014 and has continued to keep our finances in order. A new Program Committee of the Board of Directors was initiated at the October 2014 General Membership meeting and will be chaired by Joyce Murray ’72. Former Board of Director members, Cindy Wolf ’74 and Rosemary Albano ’75, remain actively involved with the Alumni Association and have done a fantastic job coordinating the annual banquet with Dave Burke ’10 and Joyce Murray ’72.
