    CelebrateMemorial Day Weekend in New Holland!

    Armed Forces Banner ProgramNoon Towne Centre Green *In the

    event of inclement weather, the ceremony

    will be held at the Auditorium at Garden

    Spot. Dedication of the new Towne Clock,

    donated by Jack Hillard. Introduction of

    Speakers by New Holland Mayor,

    Wilbur Horning.

    Col. David Wood

    Commander of the 28th Combat Aviation

    Brigade. He has been in the military for

    almost 25 years, and has deployed to

    Kuwait participating in Operation Iraqi

    Freedom. He was also deployed to

    Afghanistan with Operation Enduring

    Freedom where he served with the 82nd

    Airborne Division and the 10th Mountain

    Division. Col. Wood is also a bronze-star

    recipient, who currently lives in Lancaster

    with his wife and two children.

    Ruth Stonesifer, American Gold StarMothers-

    Ruths son, Kristofor, was deployed as

    an Army Ranger closely following the

    September 11 attacks on US soil. He was

    killed in action during Operation Enduring

    Freedom on October 19, 2001. Her loss

    compelled her to become dynamically

    involved with the Gold Star organization,

    where she served as president from

    2009-2010. She conducted her own PA

    Hometown Heroes banner campaign in

    Harrisburg to raise support for Gold Star

    Families, who have lost a loved one in the

    Armed Forces.

    Also in attendance

    (and will offer brief remarks) will be:

    - Representative Gordon Denlinger

    - Senator Mike Brubaker

    - Congressman Joe Pitts

    - Sgt. Sarah E. Mancuso, with the PA

    National Guard

    will sing the National Anthem.

    - Gina Dissinger, local business-owner,

    will sing God Bless America during the

    ceremony.

    Vet 21 Salute will provide a rie volley for

    the fallen service members.

    American Legion Post 662 will provide

    the Honor Guard.

    Garden Spot Fire Rescue will provide

    the American Flag as a backdrop for the

    event.

    The New Holland Band, under the

    direction of Ken Laudermilch, will be

    supplying a brass ensemble to play for the

    ceremony.

    At the conclusion of the ceremony, families

    and sponsors will be invited to locate, andunveil their covered banner for the public

    to see. A map of the location of each

    banner will be provided in programs at

    the ceremony. Attendees are encouraged

    to bring chairs for the event. It should be

    about an hour long.

    146 banners were sold and will be covered

    and hung down Main Street from Tower

    Road to Hoover Ave, and up and down

    Jackson St. in the Community Memorial

    Park.

    6:30am Pilgrimage of the New Holland

    Band and the Color and Rie Guard of the

    United Veterans Council visitation at 12

    area cemeteries.

    11am Pilgrimage arrive in New Holland

    at the Evangelical United Methodist

    Church. Travel to the cemetery behind the

    Trinity Lutheran Church and St. StephenUnited Church of Christ.

    From the UCC parking lot NHPD, Boy

    Scouts and Garden Spot Fire Rescue join

    up and parade down Main Street, turn right

    on Kinzer Ave. and left on Jackson St.,

    pause at the Veterans Monument and then

    proceed to the Lions Club band shell for

    Memorial Day ceremonies.
