WEEKLY ASSEMBLY REPORT – 27TH JANUARY 2015
R BK International Academy firmly believes in encouraging and motivating its students for all the
achievements they make in their day to day school life. It is important to give them a platform to be
appreciated amongst their fellow classmates. This also teaches other students to know the importance of
appreciating one‟s own classmates and what better than a morning school assembly. There were few
important events which took place in the previous week and the students were felicitated with participation
certificates in the assembly. Following are the names of the students with the events they were awarded for.
Like last year, this year too, RBK international Academy was invited by the Universal school for an
Inter-School Competition “THE LINGUIST- A LANGUAGE EXTRAVAGANZA” which was held
on Friday 19thDecember 2014 in their school premises.
It was indeed an opportunity for our students to interact and exchange ideas with their academic

GRADE 10 PERSONAL PROJECT PRESENTATIONS BY BATCH OF 2014-15
T he Personal Project is a requirement of the MYP. It is an important student-directed inquiry,
produced over an extended period and completed at the end of Grade 10. The Personal Project
Presentation showcases the students‟ understanding of the MYP requirements and mirrors their passion to
be achievers! Students may select their own topic or theme - one about which they are enthusiastic - and
must show commitment to the completion of their own project, which will be in their own time. The
project can turn out to be an original piece of art, a piece of literary fiction, an original Science
experiment, an invention or a written piece of work on a special topic.
Ms. Dharmani appreciated the presentations Ms. Krithika Aiyer and Mr. Rakhasiya
“The presentations made by the Gr 10 were impressive…..well researched and expressed with
enthusiasm and confidence. Congratulations to the students and teachers for the excellent display!”
- Ms. Krithika Aiyer
“After all the hard work done, the final day came when we had to present our personal
projects in front of an audience. All the presentations went well. We received a really good
feedback for our work. It was a very good experience. For me, the product is important…
but the journey is very important!”

REFLECTIONS FROM GRADE 9
For me, it was a great experience! We, the 9th Graders, got an amazing opportunity to learn about the
personal project. We got an idea about what to do and what not to do for our personal projects. The
variety of the projects also helped us to get a great perspective on choosing a suitable topic for our work
next year.
- ADITYA AIYER
We, the 9th Graders, were privileged to be a part of the jury and grade the personal projects presented by
the students of Grade 10. It was really a wonderful experience! We got to know how to use certain graphic
techniques that would help us for our projects in our next grade. We thank the school for giving us this
opportunity!
- AASHNA PAREKH
It was the day for the Grade 10 Personal Project Presentations!
As a part of the jury, while grading them, I felt all their
presentations were very creative. They all had put in a lot of
effort to make their work the best. I also got an idea what to do
next year for my personal project.
- ADITYA SHAH
We, from Grade 9, were a part of the jury for Gr 10 personal
project presentation. The presentations gave us tips about time
management. We got ideas how to present ourselves and be
confident during our communication. In a way it motivated us
and I was very proud to be a part of the jury! I am now confident
for my presentations next year!
- MAHEK PATEL
We as jury witnessed various topics presented by the 10th
Graders. I am happy that I got this opportunity to witness the
presentations. Also, I got an idea how to research on various
topics beneficial for my next year‟s presentations. I thank all my
teachers and seniors for this experience!
- MAHEK SEWANI
Being a part of the jury for the current Grade 10‟s personal projects presentation was something I would
never imagine myself doing! It was a great platform for us because next year we would be presenting! We
learnt a lot about the MYP personal project and on how to go about. Hence it would be easier for us to go
about with our personal project. It was a great display place to express thoughts and talents for the Grade 10
students and we were amazed with their research work! - AANCHAL DHARMANI
As the jury, we graded all the 25 personal project presentations. It was a whole new experience useful for
us while we move on to Grade 10. We witnessed various kinds of presentations; from batteries made from
solar energy to baking cupcakes and mouthwatering chocolates! I really look forward to work on my
personal project presentation for next year. I learnt a lot from my seniors and wish to use the same in my
journey.

REFLECTION ON TIMES NIE NEWSMAKERS MEET
W ith me, Aditi Bhatnagar Gr 7, Saumya Dave and Pranav Lakhan and Grade 8 represented our school
for the Times NIE Newsmakers Meet on 16 January 2015 held at Marine Lines. Reaching the
venue, we found the place full of buzz…….full of young, enthusiastic students, eagerly waiting for the
Chief Minister of Maharashtra- Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, the chief guest for the day!
While we were waiting, we watched videos about the making of newspapers and also advertisements about
the sponsors for this event. This was followed by a quiz, where we were tested on our knowledge of recent/
current events/affairs. There were 26 questions all of which were related to current affairs except 1, which
asked us to write about the „Mumbai of your dreams’. In addition, we were asked to name one change that
we would like to be seen in Mumbai. Some people gave exceptional answers, with one boy answering
„New Cluster Developments’ and another girl answering ‘The number of tuberculosis cases in Dadar
should be reduced’. When, the Chief Minister arrived and everyone started clapping aloud to mark his
welcome. Later, the main event started. Some really difficult questions were posed at him:
Q “There is an absence of parks and playgrounds near my house. What can be done?”
CM “The BMC is planning to increase the number of parks and playgrounds in Mumbai, to give our
children more area to play. We will try and decongest the city to create more green spaces for open areas
for children to play.”
Q “What will the government do to ensure safety in schools, after the Peshawar School attack?
CM “We can provide more CCTV cameras and policemen in schools however but the school and the
students have to be vigilant too”.
When it was time to go home, I was disappointed that I could not ask Mr. Fadnavis a question.
Nevertheless, I left with more knowledge about the problems faced by people living in Mumbai and also
got a chance to hear his plans for us.
