Patrick graduated from the University of Florida School of Law and entered into practice with his father, Bernie, and sister, Erin.
Patrick concentrates his practice in areas of personal injury and wrongful death. He is a skilled attorney and has a unique ability to make complicated matters more understandable for his clients. He became a Partner with the firm in 2012, and the Managing Partner in 2017. He enjoys practicing in his hometown and con-tributing to the community.
Patrick and his wife, Stephanie, have five children. On weekends he enjoys boating, fishing, and spending time with his family.

While the tourism season may be winding down this month, the number of activities and events going on gives
everybody an opportunity to still enjoy some spring weather before the summer doldrums roll in. There is still
so much to do!
After our Annual Golf Tournament this weekend, the next weekend event will be the Lionfish Tournament. You
can read more about this further in the newsletter, but it’s another very unique event for Sebastian, brought to
you by Kendra Cope, the environmental specialist with Indian River County. She is passionate about eradicating
this invasive species from our waters. Additionally, this event joins Sebastian with several select other communi-
ties in Florida for the Statewide Lionfish roundup, and puts us on the map! The lionfish, while very destructive,
are spectacularly beautiful and taste unbelievably good! Join us at Capt. Hiram’s!
The Exchange Club of Sebastian is working furiously to bring another Sebastian favorite to the area, the Blue Wa-
ter Open, now in its 26th year. So many of our Chamber partners are veterans of this event, it’s a who’s who in
the business community, all for a great cause, the Prevention of Child Abuse.
And the Senior Resource Association will unveil the newly renovated Adult Day Care facility in Sebastian in May.
The renovations to this Center are underwritten by grants and the Center provides a warm and welcoming envi-
ronment for adults and elders needing daily, supervised care. Great reason to celebrate their efforts!
We are keeping our fingers crossed that the folks in Tallahassee will work things out, build some consensus
about the issues Floridians are worried about, and do what’s in the best interest of everybody. We especially
hope they will understand the concerns from the business communities and the Tourism partners who support
this great state with sales tax revenue and jobs. Nicole provides you with info on how to let your voice be heard
on these issues further on.
We also announce the nominees of chamber members who have agreed to serve our Chamber members on the
Board of Directors. We appreciate everybody’s willingness to serve if elected and we will provide you with bal-
lots and biographies next month so you will be able to see the quality of candidates. Many thanks to our Nomi-
nating Committee, chaired by Kim Ellis.
Hopefully you will join us at one of our monthly Chamber functions. Our breakfast begins at Seacoast National
Bank and our lunch is sponsored by Mike Natalie of MN Worldwide. We’ve asked Michael Kint, CEO of United
Way to come and speak to us about ALICE. Whose ALICE you say? Well we will let Mike explain it to you! It will
be very informative. Our business and pleasure is at the Blue Lion Bar and Lounge up in the Roseland Plaza, it
should be a great networking event.
In closing, today marks the first year anniversary of the opening of the Pelican Porch Visitor Center. We are in
awe of the way times fly, and have enjoyed the refreshed and renovated building for the entire year. It is an
amazing testimony to the commitment of the business community that this Visitor Center is so beautiful, and the
feedback from the visitors this year lets us know that the Front Door to the community is appreciated!

Pursuant to the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce By-Laws, Article IV, Section 2 (b)
and (c), the Chamber’s Nominating Committee has submitted the following business members
as nominees for the slate of directors to serve terms from 2017-2020. Chamber members
may add additional names to the ballot by petition bearing the genuine signatures of at least
ten (10) qualified members of the Chamber. Such petition shall be filed with the Nominating
Committee by June 15, 2017. The determination of the Nominating Committee as to the
egality of the petitions shall be final.

Tourism Committee Meeting Thank you to those that attend our April Tourism Committee Meeting! Here’s a recap for those that missed it:
Tourism Director Report-
We are working on the 2017 Visitor’s Guide which will be distributed in early June. If you have any annual events for the calendar, please send them to [email protected]. Advertising space is still available!
Our 2017 Photo Contest Winner was Skip Murphy! He took a beautiful picture of Archie Smith Fish House!
Advertising-
We placed an ad in the Florida Fishing Magazine which is distributed to leisure travelers interested in fishing, tour operators, fishing shows, Bass Pro Shops & VISIT FLORIDA Welcome Centers.
We participated in a co-op with IRC for a full page ad
in the 2017 Undiscovered Florida Magazine. It will be featured in the May issue of Smithsonian Magazine and we will receive reader service leads.
Summer Advertising Campaign- we will be running social media campaigns over the next few months promoting fishing, tournaments, and summer stay-cations and vacations in our area.
VISIT FLORIDA & Undiscovered Florida Leads Mailings- we continue to put together and send out mass mail-ings in response to reader service leads we’ve received from advertising.

VISIT FLORIDA Governor Scott again stood up for Florida's tourism industry and upped his recommendation from $76 million to $100 mil-lion in funding for VISIT FLORIDA to make us more competi-tive. The Governor clearly understands the value of our indus-try and the 1.4 million jobs supported by tourism. Governor Rick Scott urged the Florida Legislature to fully fund VISIT FLORIDA at $100 million. The House’s proposed funding is for VISIT FLORIDA is $25 million, a 67% cut to VISIT FLORIDA’s budget. 2nd Annual Sebastian Lionfish Fest: May 19th – 21st
Making Delicious Dishes from Destructive Fishes
The 2nd Annual Sebastian Lionfish Fest is slotted to take place May 19th – 21st, 2017 at Capt Hirams Resort & Marina. Last year’s inaugural event was a great success with an estimat-ed 1,800 lionfish removed and over 400 attendees piling in to Hiram’s Sandbar to enjoy the fishing tourna-ment, educational vendors, and cook-off. Presented by Indian River County, Florida Fish & Wildlife, and Capt Hirams Resort, this 3-day event is designed to spread aware-ness and protect our coastal ecosystems against this harmful and invasive species, educate the community on the impacts of lionfish, and introduce the idea of turning them into a popular dinner item.
May 19th (Capt Meeting), 20th & 21st - Fishing Tournament
Teams of 1-4 Anglers may register for $125 and compete to har-vest the most fish, smallest fish, and largest fish. $3000 in Cash prizes will be awarded! Participants in the fishing tournament are also eligible for up to four discounted tickets to the cook-off.
May 21st - Education & Cook-Off
Learn about the ways invasive lionfish are impacting local waters, what you can do to protect coastal habitats, and how you can get involved! There will be educational exhibitors onsite including Flori-da Fish and Wildlife, Team Frapper, Indian River County Stormwater, DEP Aquatic Preserve, Indian River County Recycling, FIT, Keep Indi-an River Beautiful, and others.
The Cook-Off portion of the event will feature 8 local restaurants preparing Lionfish in various fashions. Attendees will be given the opportunity to taste Lionfish and vote for the winner by picking their favorite dish! Participating restaurants include:
Blackfins Riverfront Grill – Blackened Lionfish Nachos
The Chubby Mullett – Smoked Lionfish
The Old Fish House – Lionfish Chowder
Costa D’Este – Blackened Lionfish with Mango Habanero Salsa
Blue Star Brasserie – Lionfish Ceviche
Cobalt – Pan Seared Lionfish with Veggies & Miso Butter Sauce
Chelsea’s Bistro – Lionfish Oscar Style
Yellow Dog Café – Onion Crusted Lionfish w/ Caramel Citrus Glaze
