Anyone who wants to have fun playing the recorder with other seniors should come to the MGC Board Room on Tuesdays from 3:30‐4:30pm. Dick McDowell is the organizer for the group.

AARP Tax Service
The Service filed 134 federal and state tax returns for 2014. Their clients received over $97,000 in refunds. What a valuable service for seniors! The Fortuna Sen‐ior Center office schedules the appointments for them.
EyeCare America
This program provides eye care to older Americans. Seniors who have not had an eye exam in 3 years and are 65+ will receive a medical eye exam and care for one year at no out‐of‐pocket cost.
Those not eligible for the above are automa cally screened for glaucoma.

There are 4 seats open for the 2014‐2015 Board. Each term is fothree years and people may serve two terms. Gary Markegard isrunning for reelec on to a second term, while Alice Herman andChris Wennerholm have completed two terms and must leave thBoard . Irene Sylvest is resigning from the Board.

I have been interested in FSC since 2008 when I became the Senior News writer. Now I would like to be involved in the overall direc on of
the organiza on.
What do you bring to Board?
Former newspaper reporter and journalism teacher. I will bring wri ng and organiza onal skills, and volun‐teer experience. I was involved in the crea on of the Eel River Valley Outreach Site of the Breast & Gyn. Health Project.

Why are you interested?
Fabulous group, great ac vi es & friendship. I would like to con‐tribute my me and energy back to the organiza on.
What do you bring to Board?
Re red maintenance cra s worker. Kiwanis pres‐ident & volunteer for cemetery district and Big Brothers Big Sisters. I will gladly par cipate and contribute to the Fortuna Senior Center.

Why are you interested?
I am re red and I want to contrib‐ute to the organiza on. My or‐ganiza onal skills might be useful to the Fortuna Senior Center.
What do you bring to Board?
Re red Biology professor . I co‐created an annual Wildflower Show and volunteered to teach sci‐ence in schools. I bring organiza onal skills and volunteer experience.

Why are you interested?
I want to help the club grow and I am willing to contribute the me and energy as a Board member to the Fortuna Senior Center.
What do you bring to Board?
Re red cosmetologist. I have volunteered for my church and the Friendship Circle Dance Club. I have organiza onal skills and a willingness to help with whatever task needs to be done.

Why are you interested?
Because Fortuna Senior Center serves so many people in so many ways.
What do you bring to the Board?
Re red pharmacist and managed an office. I have volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Hospice, and Hydesville Church. I am a people‐person.

In honor of Kay Connors who was a founding member and a very strong supporter of the Fortuna Senior Center, Jim Stanfield has taken the lead on raising $10,000 to name a classroom a er Kay in the new Center. Anyone interested in contribu ng to this goal may do a one‐ me dona on or a 3‐year pledge. Call the office and talk with Naomi for more informa on.
There are other naming opportuni es for classrooms in the new Center. If you are interested or have ques ons, please talk to Naomi.

The Fortuna Community Center is coming and we are part of it. I want to work towards having a great place for boomers in the
Eel River Valley.
What do you bring to Board?
Re red Farm Advisor. Currently on the FSC Board and have held office in my church, Kiwa‐nis, and Conserva on District. I am an ac ve member of the Board and will con nue to con‐tribute.
