Megaplaza Jaén is one of the largest shopping centers in Peru, located in the city of Jaén. The mall is home to a wide range of businesses including restaurants, movie theatres, banks, car dealerships, and retail outlets. Megaplaza needed a complete IP surveillance solution that would ensure the safety of both staff and customers.

Megaplaza Jaén Implements an IP CCTV System

Using Principles of the Modern LAN

Challenge: Megaplaza Jaén had already been built and open for a year, but still required a robust and reliable video surveillance system. It was necessary that the solution was capable of covering all areas both inside the mall, and the outside perimeter. Specific challenges had prevented the customer from implementing the IP security system, which included:

Solution: Due to the restrictive nature of the challenges, Telvicom S.A. the System Integrator (SI), introduced the customer to NVT Phybridge long reach EoC innovations. The SI had used NVTP products in past installations and was confident in the Coax to IP capabilities. The award-winning CLEER24 solution provided Ethernet and PoE+ (up to 30W) over coax with up to 2,000ft (600m) reach – 6Xs farther than standard Ethernet. In just 3 quick and easy setup steps, the plug-and-play switches transformed the existing cabling into a power-packed IP platform needed to support the new IP cameras. By repurposing the existing point-to-point coax infrastructure, the customer was able to centralize all CLEER switches in a single location. “For us as integrators, the less equipment a system has – the easier it is to detect an error. This possibility was optimized with the NVT Phybridge solution,” said José Luis Rojas, spokesperson for the installation company.

Result: Megaplaza Jaén was completely satisfied with their entire modernization to IP. The solution has allowed the long-distance transmission of high quality images, centralized the monitoring of the system, and provided a robust and reliable surveillance network.
