An Employer's Perspective: Developing Relationships With Service Providers

Speaker: *Keith P. Wiedenkeller, SPHR, Senior Vice President & Chief People Officer,

AMC Entertainment, Inc. and Board Chair, US Business Leadership Network

Description:According to a recent Harris Interactive Poll, less than a third of employers who reported using employment service providers rated them effective in helping recruit, train and retain people with disabilities. All too often, employers feel that service providers and advocacy agencies are missing the mark by focusing on quantity (versus quality), and by treating individuals with disabilities as their sole “clients.” Employers understand the pressures of meeting quotas and making budget. They also understand that one of the best ways to do this is through developing strong relationships and partnerships with customers. This is a chance for providers and advocates to get “straight talk” from business leaders about what works for them -- and what doesn’t -- when it comes to working with agencies and support groups. This session will offer participants insights and effective strategies that will help you and your organization create “win-win” solutions that increase employment opportunities for the community you support.

Learning Objectives: Learn how to enhance the service provider/employer relationship Service providers will acquire insights and strategies to increase employment

opportunities for the communities they support
