Welcome, Casey Menn—Your New Career Advisor Casey Menn has spent the last 15 years working in the nonprofit, public, private and government sectors. He has worked for the Career Services office for three years as the Employer Relations Coordinator ensuring that the 500+ employers who come to campus each semester have the best possible chance to hire Bobcats. As well as the Employer Relations Coordinator position, he is now also the Career Advisor to business management, marketing and CIS majors. Professor Spotlight—Dr. Micki Kacmar Professor Micki Kacmar, Vice President of the Southern Management Association (SMA), was the Chairperson of the SMA conference held in Savannah, GA in November of this year. Dr. Kacmar introduced several changes to the conference agenda that were highly appreciated by the attendees. These changes included creative innovations such as ‘Act Out of Your Research,’ ‘Research Speed Dating,’ and ‘Off-Site Experience’ that involved a visit to a couple of local businesses. Other changes included logistic amendments that enabled attendees to take time to explore the city. Thanks to Dr. Kacmar’s leadership and management, the conference was a resounding success. Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Kacmar! We are proud to have you on our Management team. Dr. Kacmar and Dr. Chris Shook, President of SMA Hispanic Business Students Association Spotlight The Department of Management would like to congratulate several students for giving back to the community! Members of the HBSA organization on campus supported a local non-profit organization—School Fuel—by packing 361 sacks for Thanksgiving to deliver to elementary schools within San Marcos CISD. The group is also going to help pack Christmas sacks and deliver them to even more children within the community. School Fuel works to provide nutritious food to San Marcos students who are in need of food security on the weekends. The goal is to break the poverty cycle by providing weekend food sacks. We are so happy that Texas State University students are reaching out to help! We appreciate your hard work and dedication. We would like to give a special thank you to Sharon Medina, Donaji Medina, Carlos Enrique Acha De Jesus, Javier Melendez, Daniel Montoya, Rebecca Recio, Karlie Ramirez, and Mariela Martinez (all pictured below).
