Asking for forgiveness After a few moments of quiet we say sorry to God and ask Him to forgive us.

The Liturgy of the WordFirst Reading - Psalm 8 Our LORD and Ruler, your name is wonderful everywhere on earth!You let your glory be seen in the heavens above.

With praises from children and from tiny infants, you have built a fortress.4

It makes your enemies silent, and all who turn against you are left speechless.

I often think of the heavens your hands have made, and of the moon and stars you put in place.

Then I ask, “Why do you care about us humans? Why are you concerned for us weaklings?”

You made us a little lower than you yourself, and you have crowned us with glory and honour.

You let us rule everything your hands have made. And you put all of it under our power—the sheep and the cattle, and every wild animal, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and all ocean creatures.

Our LORD and Ruler, your name is wonderful everywhere on earth!We bless you, master of the heavens, for the wonderful order which enfolds this world;grant that your whole creation may find fulfilment in the Son of Man, Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Gospel Reading

Matthew 28.16-20

This reading comes right at the end of Matthew’s Gospel, after the Crucifixion and Resurrection.

The disciples had gone to Nazareth as Jesus had told them to. When they saw him, they worshipped him. Jesus said “All power is given me in Heaven and on Earth. Go and make all people my disciples. Baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and teach them to obey everything I commanded you. I am with you always, to the end of time.”

Let us declare our faith in God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We pray for all households today, for those who live in homes without enough room, for those who live in homes that are difficult to keep safe.We pray for children who live in fear, mistrust and poverty.We pray for all child refugees, children displaced from what they knew as home trying to settle in a new environment.Just as Abraham entertained angels in his home and didn’t know it, may we offer and receive hospitality to all strangers and refugees and while doing so, encounter the living God.

3 - June SwanWe thank you for your continued goodness to us during this time of uncertainty as we witnessed the changing seasons bringing the joys of new life and hope.  We pray that all will be able to see and feel your goodness and spirit around them.We thank you for all who have given their time and talents to support the lonely and frightened who found themselves in a dark place and pray that all will find your peace 

We thank you for the shared sense of care, compassion, and community which has developed and pray that what we have discovered in ourselves and in others will continue and grow with our faith and trust in you.

We give thanks for all who have given of themselves, with patience, and tolerance to bring support and dignity to the  oppressed  and pray that your loving forgiving spirit may prevail throughout the world.

We give thanks in the knowledge that as we continue in this world you are with us always to the end of time.
