SUP targets a large number of parti-

cipants in the general environment of

surfing / windurfing / yachting and other

watersports. Canoeists and kayakers

are interested in this uncomplicated

alternative to their sport.

Kite-surfers enjoy this alternative when

the wind conditions are not perfect and

many sailing yacht/motoryacht owners

carry a paddle board for fun in the water

when at anchor.

SUP is popular, very easy to learn and

extremely diverse. The trend towards

inflatable SUP-Boards makes the sport

extremely accessible for a big target

group. Those involved in servicing

the sport, are interested in board and

equipment technology, different board

types and the accessories available.

TEST KOMPAKTE ALLROUNDBOARDS

EASY GOING & MEHRBOARDS ZUM RUMSPIELEN, FÜR DIE STÄDTETOUR, VIELLEICHT AUCH MAL SUP-YOGA? IMMER WENN LEISTUNG, SPEED UND STRECKE KEINE ROLLE SPIELEN, KOMMEN DIE KOMPAKTESTEN ALLROUNDER INS SPIEL.

Auch wenn Touringboards zwischen 11 und 13 Fuß zunehmend an Bedeutung gewinnen – viele Erstkäu-fer greifen immer noch zu den kompakten, handlichen Allroundboards bis maximal 11 Fuß Länge. Mit kleine-rem Packmaß und geringeren Gewichten überzeugen diese Boards oft bereits beim ersten Check im Shop. Ein Mistral Sumatra 10'6" wirkt im Vergleich zu einem 14er Naish Maliko beim Zusammenrollen wie eine Kaschmir-decke zu einem Backblech. Die Anforderungen an das 14-Fuß-Racegeschoss sind aber eben auch andere als für ein kompaktes Spaßbrett. Die neue Topmarke setzt dabei Red Paddle mit dem Compact 9'6". Bei diesem Board ist wirklich alles auf Transport und Handlichkeit optimiert, der Rucksack wirkt nur halb so groß wie üblich. Dafür wird das Board erst gefaltet und dann gerollt, möglich machen das sehr weiche Materialien und die Doppelfinne hinten. Die sind allerdings etwas fummelig zu montie-ren, halten dann aber sehr gut die Richtung. Als einziges Board hat das Red Paddle ein großes Gepäcknetz. Auch das ist ein Feature für maximale Mobilität. Wer mit der S-Bahn zum Wasser fährt, muss schließlich den Pack-sack und die Pumpe irgendwo unter bringen. Die übrigen
