Media EvaluationQuestion 1

As you can see my magazine and DJ mag share a lot of similarities. You can see that there both share the same kind of font, masthead, coverline, strapline, Puff, screamer. My magazine doesn’t really challenge forms and conventions it is a usual music magazine with all the usual features. Also you notice that my magazine and Dj mag have the same sort of bleeding effect with the way that the colour runs over. As you can see both the magazines are for the same age group and type of person, for this genre it would be young, heavy clubbers and Dj’s. The denotation of my magazine is someone on Dj decks with a cigarette in their mouth. The connotation is that there Is an amazing Dj playing in a massive club not caring what anyone thinks.

On my double page spread I haven't really challenged forms and conventions either. There is three columns on each page for the text and in the text I have used very casual language also I have used quite a lot of pictures to make it colourful.

I have set my contents out in a typical way I have the title at the top left corner also I have

put a few pictures of what is included in the magazine such as pictures of the double page spread, the free CD and Dj decks. Also when I have said what people are in the magazine for example Calvin Harris I have used his actual font for the text which I thought was a good idea. Also with my contents page I didn’t really look at other contents pages from real Dj magazines I planned it out from memory of other magazines i have read before. I have made sure that everything I have said was on the front cover was on the contents page e.g the free give aways, the interviews and the competitions.

My double page spread again doesn’t really challenge the forms and conventions there are a few pictures of the Dj who is being interviewed and the text is in three different columns on each page. I have used very casual language in the text as the type of person to read my magazine would use that type of language. I have tried to match the pictures and the text together so they flow together. As the language I use in the interview is very casual and formal the pictures I use must match that, that’s why in one of the pictures the Dj has a cigarette in this mouth whilst he is playing which symbolises rebellion and partying.
