The Mechanical Pipe Cutter™ (MPC™) electromechanical pipe- cutter from Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), reduces logistical and environmental constraints of stuck pipe or pipe recovery operations by providing precise, downhole pipe cutting without the use of ballistics or hazardous chemicals, reducing nonproductive time (NPT), personnel risk, and overall intervention costs. The MPC performs its precise cutting without damaging external tubulars or control lines. Cutting penetration is continuously measured and controlled from the surface, confirming the cut has been made successfully. The MPC’s temperature and pressure ratings allow operators to cut pipe in hotter and deeper environments, while eliminating any additional time-consuming pipe recovery operations. Applications Stuck pipe 2 7 /8-in. to 7-in. downhole pipe Features and benefits Precisely cuts downhole pipe without the use of ballistics or hazardous chemicals Reduces logistical and environmental constraints Arrives in two 10-ft sections Allows for easy transportation for quick offshore or remote deployment CPU controlled for precise or difficult cuts Ensures efficient cuts to reduce debris and damage to outer strings Unlimited setting and resetting Saves rig and NPT costs by performing multiple cuts per trip Surface-monitored cut penetration Confirms successful cut to avoid needless trips out of hole Cuts a wide range of pipe types—including steel and alloy (chrome) pipe—and sizes compared to conventional cutters Small diameter enables use in restricted areas Deployable on wireline, tractor, or TeleCoil intelligent coiled tubing services Mechanical pipe cutter Achieve fast and effective pipe recovery The multiple, clean cuts provided by the MPC eliminate additional fish milling and ensure efficient pipe-recovery operations. bhge.com

The Mechanical Pipe Cutter™ (MPC™) electromechanical pipe-cutter from Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), reduces logistical and environmental constraints of stuck pipe or pipe recovery operations by providing precise, downhole pipe cutting without the use of ballistics or hazardous chemicals, reducing nonproductive time (NPT), personnel risk, and overall intervention costs.

The MPC performs its precise cutting without damaging external tubulars or control lines. Cutting penetration is continuously measured and controlled from the surface, confirming the cut has been made successfully. The MPC’s temperature and pressure ratings allow operators to cut pipe in hotter and deeper environments, while eliminating

any additional time-consuming pipe recovery operations.

Applications

• Stuck pipe • 27/8-in. to 7-in. downhole pipe

Features and benefits

• Precisely cuts downhole pipe without the use of ballistics or hazardous chemicals

− Reduces logistical and environmental constraints

• Arrives in two 10-ft sections − Allows for easy transportation

for quick offshore or remote deployment

• CPU controlled for precise or difficult cuts

− Ensures efficient cuts to reduce debris and damage to outer strings

• Unlimited setting and resetting − Saves rig and NPT costs by

performing multiple cuts per trip • Surface-monitored cut penetration

− Confirms successful cut to avoid needless trips out of hole

• Cuts a wide range of pipe types—including steel and alloy (chrome) pipe—and sizes compared to conventional cutters

• Small diameter enables use in restricted areas

• Deployable on wireline, tractor, or TeleCoil™ intelligent coiled tubing services

Mechanical pipe cutterAchieve fast and effective pipe recovery

The multiple, clean cuts provided by the MPC eliminate additional fish milling and ensure efficient pipe-recovery operations.
