One of the sweetest memories I have about Claudia was the lovely Fall weekend several years ago that a group of Ben Lippen mothers went to our mountain house together. I had the pleasure of riding with Claudia up to North Carolina and loved getting to know her better and spending that time with her. We went to the club for dinner that night then came home and got all snuggled up to watch the movie The Phantom of the Opera. I love that movie and am always moved by it. My dear friend Claudia became totally absorbed by the story (at the time I didn't know her love of drama) and cried for the plight of the misunderstood and suffering phantom character. Even as he threatened to kill the good and handsome Count as he attempted to rescue the damsel in distress, she cried for the phantom. I have often thought about her tender heart that was so touched by the sufferings of this character. I know my friend is robed in Glory now and I look forward to being with her again in heaven. ,Dr. Sinclair Ferguson of First Presbyterian declared, “If Claudia could talk to you today, I think she would tell you this: ‘I’m in heaven and I want you to be here. But you will never be able to see me again unless you know my Savior.’”

That’s what she wanted most, especially for the children. Many witnessed Claudia McCain living out Matthew 18:3- 6: “I tell you the truth, unless you

change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”

Claudia welcomed all she could. “When she hosted a Child Evangelism Good News Club in her home, she did not just open her door to the ministry team,” says her friend Liz Stonecypher. “Claudia made fliers, hung balloons, and distributed them to the children. Children of every age were precious to her. ‘Precious,’ was a Claudia word. That is how she saw children.”

“But as much as Mrs. McCain taught us about acting and theatre, she taught us even more about Christ and His love for us. Her ever sunny disposition and positive attitude taught us more about the Lord than if she had talked to us about Him all the time. As a middle schooler my faith was a rocky thing, and my journey with the Lord was certainly not the smoothest, but I can honestly say Mrs. McCain showed Jesus through her actions. “ Candidate for Scholarship at Ben Lippen School.
