Developed for use in extreme conditions
With the launch of the MC series RIEDEL is expanding its extensive
range to include a particularly energy-efficient and reliable series for
medical systems. Six models with refrigeration capacities ranging from
30 to 70 kW ensure ideal operating conditions for modern diagnostic
devices and in medical facilities.
During development of this series, the focus was on extremely system
stability operation and effective cooling within narrow tolerance limits.
For this reason, the selected components and the construction principle
were precisely adapted to meet the high requirements of continuous
clinical operation. The refrigeration capacity is reliably generated even
under extreme climatic conditions. The technical concept of the units
meets the high requirements of noise emission control and is both
ecologically and economically ground-breaking.

Designed for the most modern diagnostic and therapeutic systems
The cutting-edge technological development in imaging diagnostics and radiotherapy requires permanent
higher level of performance from the supporting peripheral equipment. The sensitive technology Magnetic
Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography or modern Linear Accelerators needs to be reliably and
precisely cooled during operation. This is the only way these medical devices can produce accurate results.
Furthermore, our RIEDEL MC Chillers are also designed to provide cold water for air conditioning.
Maximum possibilities at minimum lifecycle costs
No matter where you are planning to use a MC Chiller, the series will impress you in every climate zone.
The energy-efficient design can be used at outside temperatures ranging from -37 °C to +55 °C. This is
ensured by various factors, including the robust design and the perfectly compatible components sourced
from best of its class suppliers. The series consists of six models with refrigeration capacities up to a
maximum of 70 kW. The units are exceptionally quiet and have impressively low lifecycle costs.
MC Chillers can be enlarged with the energy-saving system module ESS11 in uniform appearance.
Upgrading of already installed units with additional accessory is feasable at any time. Models with 60 Hz-
technology are certified to UL and CSA standards. All models correspond to the RoHS directives and meet
the TR requirements (previously GOST-R).

Cooling concept for all climate zones
The performance capacity of cold water units depends primarily on the refrigeration design and the
refrigerant used. RIEDEL has decided to use the advantages of the high-performance R134a for the MC series –
the unit therefore provides a universal solution.
The conditions and the ambient temperature can only be partially assessed before the implementation of the cold
water system. The prognosis is made more difficult by the very different regional effects of global climate
change. The MC series covers limit temperatures ranging from a polar -37 °C to a tropical +55 °C. These
extreme conditions have been simulated and confirmed in RIEDEL's own climate chambers many times over.
With our ESS11 energy-saving module, you can precede active cooling at appropriately low ambient
temperatures and thus achieve the best possible efficiency for your cooling application while significantly
reducing operating costs.

The sound power levels were determined by the sound pressure levels measured in compliance with DIN EN ISO 3741. The sound pressure level measurements (dB(A)) were carried out on an enveloping surface
that was placed around the sound source (distance: 0.5 m). According to DIN EN ISO 3744, the sound pressure level measurements must be carried out in this way to determine the sound power level.
Low sound emissions
Looking at the sound pressure level, it becomes clear that the precise coordination of all the device components
pays off. The MC Chiller is agreeably quiet even when operating at full load and barely influences the surround-
ing noise levels. If the device is operated at sound-optimised partial load the sound pressure level decreases a
significantly more.
Even when installed outdoors near to therapy areas and hospital ward blocks this “quiet-as-a-whisper”
operation has a positive effect. Convalescence and quality of life will no longer be affected by disturbing
background noise. Complicated and expensive building measures are avoided.

RIEDEL Controller Board and RIEDEL displays
The RIEDEL Controller Board (RCB) consists of a RIEDEL-specific regulating and control unit and the RD4 and RD3C
operating displays. The separation of the controller and the display unit offers several advantages: The control
panel can be installed taking up a minimum of space, and if required, can also be replaced by other operating
units. The core of this system is the STAR-Module. The RIEDEL RCB contains all important control elements and
has the following features:

Standard RD4: Monochrome graphical LCD with real-time clock
and datalogger, incl. USB connection
Remote control RD3C: The display allows for remote control
and and remote diagnosis of networked coolers, equipped with
a 4.3" TFT colour graphics touch screen. The RD3C display can
also be accessed from around the world using a browser or a
smartphone.
