Transition NewsThis week we welcomed another new sibling. Olivia’s wait is finally over and is blessed with a new baby sister, Amelia. Best wishes to the proud parents, Trish and Ben. Most Transition children were extremely excited to see and hear Taz, the Monster truck last Friday at school, however, the odd child enjoyed Taz’s enormity from a far. This week T3 had a special visit to the chapel and enjoyed

Congratulations to Nic and Anthony Stockman and all the many parent helpers through the P&F for a fantastic Showjumping event on Sunday. I know it involved thousands of phones calls and lots of running around. Edgell Oval looked amazing – and it was such a great opportunity to showcase our school, and get

those visitors in the gates to meet us and see what it is all about at All Saints’.Congratulations to the All Saints’ students who rode so well and put on a very exciting show for the many spectators. Well done! I hope some of you heard the interviews on 2BS and 2CR or saw the coverage in the Western Advocate. Great to have this local coverage on All Saints’.

***This weekend, Eliot Sanger and I will be travelling to Wagga for the Boarding Schools Expo – and we will be waving the All Saints’ flag in this part of the world. A number of other schools (including the big Sydney ones) will be attending,

so we will be doing our best to pitch the strengths of an All Saints’ education.I hope some of you saw the feature in The Land this week, with the terrific photo of Mrs Izzy and some of our boarders. Thanks for your help in putting this together.

***Tours of the College are still going strong. We have seen some terrific students as part of the scholarship process and through general enquiries. I feel particularly proud of the friendly honesty of our students and how they say hello to the visiting families. Thanks for your support of our school.

a story and a few songs with Father Paul. Our Jolly phonics sounds for the week were ‘o’ and ‘u’. The children spattered paint over an octopus and painted colourful umbrellas as well as listened to many children’s books featuring those sounds. In Mathematics we explored the number 5 and enjoyed completing handwriting, cutting and pasting activities in our Maths scrapbooks. In library the children made an ‘Orange’ Book and in Japanese the children enjoyed saying and doing many actions with Ayaka. Regards, Deb, Liz, Eva and Sally

HOCKEY REPORTS NETBALL REPORTSUNDER 9’S HOCKEYThis week, All Saints played against St Pats (A + K). It was a great game! Chris McEwen showed great dribbling skills and helped people all over the field. Darcie Campbell ran all day. Boy! She must have been tired at the end! Niamh Sinclair was excellent in attack. Natalia Burgess put up her hand to play for St Pats and displayed great defence for them. But other people put up their hands too. Well done Matilda, Claire, Natalia and myself. Well done to Niamh and Kian for putting their hands up in past weeks. Chris McEwen got player of the week for his great efforts. Last but not least, Kian Blackshaw had a great game from beginning to end. I think it was the best game of the year so far! Congratulations everyone. Claudia Cunningham

ASC SCORCHERSOn Friday, 14 May, we travelled with the Under 12’s netball team to Blue Mountains Grammar School for our first inter-school contest of the season. The Scorchers bounded out of the blocks early moving the ball down the court with great turn of speed and accuracy, converting most of their goals. It was hard to fault the skills of the eleven girls and the skills recently practised at training really seem to be falling on listening ears. Final score was 41– 5. The Scorchers coped well with the tough umpiring enforced by Mrs Cant. Thanks to Mrs Crampton for expertly organising the girls into perfect position! Well done Scorchers. We are sure this game will build your confidence. By Mrs Cant

* * *On Saturday May 15, the ASC Scorchers had a great game and were pleased with the final score. Antonia Fish was the player of the match. She was trying out GK for the first time and intercepted lots of balls taking it back to the Scorchers end of the court. Maddy Buckley and Isabelle Card were positioning themselves extremely well on court and were always ready to take a catch. The Scorchers played very well and were happy with their first win of the season! Great game Scorchers. Score 33 – 14 Scorchers way. By Sophie Cant ASC PUPPIESOn Saturday the ASC Puppies lined up against Collegians for another hard fought game of netball. Our skills and general play are developing and improving every week with the result being some great attacking plays and solid defence. Whilst we couldn’t keep the Collegians at bay, we had a great game and the player of the week was Rhiannon Hunter. By Amber Stockman ASC BUNNIESThe All Saints Bunnies had a beautiful Saturday morning for the match against the Eglinton Joeys. The game started well but soon became a close match for the Bunnies. Goals were scored by Eliza and Xanthe. I nearly scored a goal with the ball circling the ring before finally dropping outside the ring. Jessica, Lillian and Molly defended well. Lauren and Ella showed great netball skills by always sticking with their players. Unfortunately, we missed Gena who was away sick, we hope she feels better and look forward to her return on Saturday. Our new team member Madi had a fantastic start and played very well. Player of the week was Kate. Her defence throughout the game was excellent. By Sara Reynolds

6 YEARS ROSELLASThe 6 Years Rosellas had a wonderful time this week playing the All Saints Penguins. Socialising and co-operation was the order of the day. Will Stanmore scored 4 goals, the second of which was helped by a fabulous pass from Patrick Saint of the Penguins and

James Burgess was very proud of his goal at the Penguin’s end. James Edwards ran well with excellent passing and was rewarded with a goal himself. Toby Gough and Jaidyn Collins were in the thick of play throughout the match. Will Purvis was player of the week for his attacking play and two goals. Well done for a great team effort. Leigh Edwards

RUGBY REPORTUnder 12 Rugby vs Blue Mountains Grammar SchoolOn Friday 14th May the Under 12 rugby team went on a road trip to Blue Mountains Grammar School for a friendly game of rugby. The boys took a while to hit their straps in the first half, allowing BMGS to run in three unanswered tries. Re-grouping at half time, the boys walked on the field for the second half with a much greater sense of determination and enthusiasm. Matthew Jackman, Cameron Redpath and Alexander Miller all worked hard to score a try each drawing the match at 15 all. With only seconds to go Sam Rosen made a try saving tackle to save a certain try and the game finished soon after in a draw. Blue Mountains Grammar School always give us a competitive match and both teams walked away feeling like winners. Mr Jackman

7 YEARS EMUSThe Emus had an exciting game against a closely matched team, Bathurst 75 Barnson Bullets on 15 May 2010. Bathurst 75 won the day 3 – 2, but the Emus put up some awesome plays. In addition to the two super Emu goals, the game saw all players keep up with the ball, tackle and pressure. Although the opponents often found a way to bring the ball up to Emu’s goal area, the Emus set about with great plays to get it back. Mitch and Jonathan did all they could to win back the ball and bring the ball back up to the opponent’s goal line, as well as support the other players and pass the ball. Alexander did good aggressive plays. Tyler’s clever plays included a clever kick out to stop the opponents advancing and saving a goal by kicking the ball away from the goal line of the Emu’s goal. Isobelle also did great tackling and made a great kickout to stop a Bathurst 75 advance. Jack T arrived in time to add strength to the Emus and cheerfully played hard against the opponents. Player of the match was Amy, who put on an awesome display of and pressure against tackling, including a stand-out tackle. For her courageous game against some much larger players, Amy was player of the match. Mr Pike

8 YEARS CROWSAll Saints’ Crows were unlucky to be defeated in Saturday’s game. The game between the Crows and Bathurst 75 was a closely fought contest. Despite their very say die attitude they were defeated 4-3. They were only defeated by a cracking goal seconds from fulltime. The Crows continue to improve with each week that goes by. Player of the Week is Lachlan Roach. Mr Mark Hayman

11 YEARS HAWKSThe first game of a double header weekend started well and improved as it progressed. With almost a full complement of players, All Saints were full of enthusiasm and teamwork. All players are holding positions better, passing more willingly with improved accurately and listening to coaching. We took an early dominance over this game which gave us the edge over the competitors. Our back line made a solid wall of defence with Phoebe showing speed and improving accuracy which earned her Player of the Week. Well done Phoebe. Both Sam and Thomas were unlikely in a couple of attempts at goals but with determination, we came home winners this week with a 2-1 victory. Our goals coming from Thomas with a very well executed penalty shot and Cameron managing a successful toe punt that saw the ball sail over the top of the Goalie and into the back of the net. Well done everyone on a great win. The second game of the day was always going to be hard to back up to however the team, although down on a few players, worked very well. Due to the lower numbers, more thinking and passing was required which went well and although not a win, it was a good learning game with players trying new positions and overall everyone enjoying themselves. Mr Redpath

12 YEARS EAGLESOur gallant 12 Years Eagles found the going tough at Proctor Park last Saturday. The team played the highly regarded Churches United who showed plenty of speed and skill. The ASC players met this flair with plenty of heart and tenacity and constantly made life difficult for their opposition. Our team ran themselves to a standstill and repelled countless raids in the first half. The second half was a more even affair and our players deserve credit for putting the opposition defenders under pressure numerous times. Unfortunately goals did not eventuate, but it was a great encouragement to see the team turning the tide and matching it with one of the more fancied teams of the competition. I commend the players for the wholehearted game, with a special mention to Tom Card who received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding second half performance. Mr Cant

FESTIVAL OF ART Last Saturday Edgell Oval came alive to the tune of 70 riders from the local area and beyond to compete in the Inaugural Showjumping Day.

The grounds looked fantastic and were filled to capacity with horses, trucks and floats!

Riders competed in up to two jump heights each with three separate events being contested for each height.

Our 17 ASC riders had a fantastic day with one of the highlight’s being the 60cm AM7 event where 1st to 5th placegetters were all sporting the red, white and blue. Our riders looked fantastic taking their lap of honour!

On behalf of the Junior and Senior School Equestrian teams, I would like to thank everyone who supported and helped us on the day and leading up to the event. It was certainly a group effort!
