Our first offering of School Garden 101 of 2014 has now been completed. Thank you to the 5 schools,

represented by; administrators, teachers and parents who attended our class over 2 weeks in April. We

look forward to continuing to support their projects and continue to engage additional schools in our

APRIL/MAY 2014 NEWSLETTER

ISSUE 38

Supported by the Statewide Health Improvement Program, Minnesota Department of Health.

A Few Updates from Your Local SHIP Staff:

Worksite Wellness: Alison will meet with Buffalo Hospital/ CLT partners Mona Volden and

Janna Anderson to discuss an implementation strategy for our Worksite Wellness initiative. Both

Mona & Janna have extensive experience in the area of Worksite Wellness and we welcome their

expertise.

Active Schools: Schools in 6 of our 10 local school districts are convening with their wellness

committees and discussing active school day policies that will benefit their students.

Active Living & Healthy Foods: The Buffalo Community Health Fair was a success; we thank

Allina Health and Kuzma Chiropractic for their continued partnership in offering this resource to

our community. We estimate 400-500 people attended. With the addition of Open Streets STMA

to the calendar, Buffalo adding ‘Play Streets’ opportunities and bringing MN-DOT on board for

our Regional Active Living project, we are excited with the numerous possibilities before us.
