WALKING BY FAITH In our walk with the Lord, one of the difficult lessons that we have to learn is to un- derstand that there will be those times when the Lord will ask of us to wait. Who of us in America enjoy having to wait, be it in traffic, or in a line at the grocery store when we are wanting to get checked out and on our way to the next task that is waiting for our attention. When the Israelites made their journey to the Promise Land, there were times when the cloud stood still and they only con- tinued their journey when the cloud moved. In our walk of faith, there are those times when God would say to us “Be still and know that I am God”. In our excitement to see God work in our lives, we often forget that He knows what is best for us. Our zeal, apart from His divine knowl- edge, can send us racing into the unknown, when it is best for us to wait upon Him for guidance. Psalm 27:14 reads “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (KJV) Walking by faith teaches us to stand firm while await- ing God’s direction. Some of our greatest personal growth as believers, and the prepa- ration necessary for God’s next step in our lives, takes place in the stillness of our hearts as we take time to wait on the Lord. While we are anxious to move on in our lives to sun- shine and roses, God knows we need time to send down our roots and that will only happen when we take time to wait upon the Lord. As we discover that our strength truly comes from God alone, we will wait patiently; for we understand that faith in Him alone will enable us to walk victoriously no matter what path He has chosen for us. WALKING BY FAITH

In our walk with the Lord, one of the difficult lessons that we have to learn is to un-derstand that there will be those times when the Lord will ask of us to wait. Our zeal, apart from His divine knowl-edge, can send us racing into the unknown, when it is best for us to wait upon Him for guidance. Psalm 27:14 reads “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (KJV)

Walking by faith teaches us to stand firm while await-ing God’s direction. Some of our greatest personal growth as believers, and the prepa-ration necessary for God’s next step in our lives, takes place in the stillness of our hearts as we take time to wait on the Lord. Ministering with Global Teen Challenge, “Restoring Broken Lives”

Reverend Duane Henders is an Assemblies of God foreign missionary working with the Global Teen Challenge ministry. Duane and his wife Cari have been involved in Teen Chal-lenge ministry since 1969, both in the United States and over-seas. For 9 years in the 1970’s, the Henders directed the Teen Challenge male rehabilitation center in Philadelphia, Penn-sylvania. The Henders ministered in Portugal for 16 years where they helped start a national Teen Challenge ministry and also served at the Assemblies of God Bible Institute. Since 1999 the Henders have been working as foreign mis-sionaries with Global Teen Challenge, helping to establish Teen Challenge centers in countries that request help in combating the plague of drug addiction. They have helped to establish a number of Teen Challenge ministries and have trained staff in many countries in Africa, Europe, Central America and the Far East. They presently serve as the Global Teen Challenge representatives for Latin America and the Caribbean. “Over the years,” Duane shares, “we have seen hundreds of lives delivered from life controlling addictions. We know God changes lives! Our goal is to identify people who God is calling to this ministry and equip them to carry it out.”
