(ETPs). Implemented by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), and its state counterpart

organizations i.e., State Program Management Groups (SPMGs). Maharashtra Government has banned digging of borewells beyond 200 feet to check the steep decline

of groundwater-level across the state. Those who found guilty will face a fine ranging from 10,000 rupees to 25,000 rupees or even imprisonment upto six months in case of repeated offences.

Union Cabinet has given its approval to Benami Transactions (Prohibition) (Amendment) Bill, 2015. The Bill seeks to amend the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, 1988 by adding additional provisions for attachment and confiscation of benami properties and imposes fine with imprisonment.

Union Cabinet has given its approval to 5 per cent disinvestment in National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) and 10 per cent in Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

UP Govt has launched Samajwadi Water ATM scheme at bus stations. It will provide potable water at the rate of 1

rupee per litre and cold water at 2 rupees per litre. ‘Lohia gramin bus seva’, with 25 per cent lower bus fares. This scheme will provide connectivity

at affordable fare between cities and rural areas. 149 self-operating inquiry services and super luxury air-conditioned bus service.

The current immunisation rate in rural areas is around 58 per cent while it is over 67 per cent in urban regions of the country announced by Union Health Minister, J P Nadda. Government had allocated funds of Rs 221.70 crore, Rs 188.91 crore and Rs 189.26 crore for year 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively in order to promote immunisation programme in India.

Telangana Government has inked a MoU with tech giant Google Inc to build biggest campus outside US in Hyderabad. It will be set up at Rs 1,000 crore and expected to be ready within four years i.e. by 2020. On completion, Google’s Hyderabad campus will be second-biggest in the world and the first in Asia.

Lok Sabha has passed Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets (Imposition of Tax) Bill, 2015, which deals with the menace of black money and to replace the Income Tax (IT) Act, 1961 for the taxation of foreign income. Rigorous imprisonment from 3years to 10 years and a fine may be imposed for willful attempt to evade tax, otherwise imprisonment of 6 months to 7 years with fine.

Joint Statement issued during Prime Minister’s visit to France, inter-alia, included acquisition of 36 Rafale jets in fly away condition, through an Inter-Governmental Agreement. To follow-up on the subject, Mr. LE Drian, the Defence Minister of France and Mr. Manohar Parrikar, the Defence Minister of India met at New Delhi to decide on the way forward in this regard.

India Post opens new e-commerce center based at Safdarjang, New Delhi, and is dedicated exclusively to handling e-commerce parcels. According to India Post, the centre will be capable of handling up to 30,000 parcels per day.

India and China signed 24 key agreements to strengthen their bilateral relationship in several fields including trade and commerce, education, skill development, railways, human resource and other areas. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi inaugurated Rs 16,000-crore revamped and modernised IISCO Steel plant at Burnpur near Asansol district of West Bengal. This is the fifth integrated steel plant of SAIL. The annual hot metal capacity of the plant has been ramped up to 2.9 million tonnes, from the earlier 0.85 million tonne.

SBI has launched a RuPay Platinum debit card in association with National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). Accepted at all payment channels- ATMs, PoS and eCommerce. The card offers 5 per cent cash back on utility bills, complimentary airport lounge access,

personal accident death and permanent total disability insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh, among others.

The card initially would be issued free to customers maintaining a quarterly balance of 50,000 rupees.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) Continuation Programme of fifteen operational flights of PSLV-C36 to PSLV-C50.

An advanced version of BrahMos land attack cruise missile was successfully test fired from the Car Nicobar Islands, revalidating the formidable weapon’s precision strike capability. The land-to-land configuration of BrahMos Block–III version was launched from a Mobile Autonomous Launcher (MAL) for its full-range of 290-km. The multi-mission missile, having a range of 290-km and a Mach 2.8 speed, is capable of being launched from land, sea, sub-sea and air against sea and land targets.

The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile has been jointly developed by India and Russia. It is capable of carrying a warhead of 300 kilogram.

The French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo was presented A Freedom Of Expression Courage Award from the PEN American Center. Editor-in-chief, Gerard Biard and critic-essayist of Charlie Hebdo, Jean-Baptiste Thoret accepted the award at a function held at the American Museum of Natural History. The satirical magazine was recognized for this award by PEN American Centre as 12 of its staff members had died during January 2015 terrorist attack on its Paris based office.

Syrian journalist and rights activist Mazen Darwish was honoured with UNESCO-Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize 2015. He was bestowed with this award by the UN’s Cultural body for recognition of his work carried out in Syria for more than 10 years at great personal sacrifice, harassment, enduring a travel ban, as well as repeated detention and torture.

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) of Delhi has been awarded with the World’s Best Airport for the year 2014. Airports Council International (ACI) presented the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) award to IGIA. It had handled 25 to 40 million passengers per annum. Union Government has recognised Motorsports as one of the 59 sports in India. In this regard, Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has included Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) in the list of sports backed National Sports Federations (NSF). FMSCI is the governing body of motorsports in India and the motors sports was put into ‘Others’ category of NSF list which means that no financial assistance will be provided to it.
