Dear Parents, On Thursday 24 th May, Head Teachers and Chairs of Governors of schools in the Diocese of Brentwood met with Bishop Alan Williams. Bishop Alan has expressed his wish that all schools in the Diocese of Brentwood must be part of a Mul-Academy Trust (MAT) by 2020. It is the Bishop’s wish that St Joseph’s will be part of a MAT with the other six Havering Deanery primary schools, The Sacred Heart of Mary and The Campion School. I have been aending briefings and relevant meengs with Mrs Maude, our Chair of Governors, to ensure that we are fully appraised of the implicaons for our school and we will keep you informed of any developments in due course. During our meeng, Bishop Alan spoke about how we must see the children in our care as saints, now and in the future. He quoted Pope Francis who said: “The saints are men and women who have joy in their hearts and spread it to others. Never hang, but serving the other, is the greatest need. To pray and to live in joy: this is the way of sancty!” This quote has prompted me to reflect on how we live our lives too and how important we are as role models to our children. Joy is a big word for us at St Joseph’s and we want our children to be full of it. We also want them to lead holy lives of service. When they come out of school, ask them about something good that has happened today or ask them how they have helped someone else. Have great expectaons and they will rise to them. Wishing you all a very happy half-term. Dear Parents,

On Thursday 24th May, Head Teachers and Chairs of Governors of schools in the

Diocese of Brentwood met with Bishop Alan Williams. Bishop Alan has expressed

his wish that all schools in the Diocese of Brentwood must be part of a

Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) by 2020.

It is the Bishop’s wish that St Joseph’s will be part of a MAT with the other six

Havering Deanery primary schools, The Sacred Heart of Mary and The Campion

School. I have been attending briefings and relevant meetings with Mrs Maude,

our Chair of Governors, to ensure that we are fully appraised of the implications

for our school and we will keep you informed of any developments in due course.

During our meeting, Bishop Alan spoke about how we must see the children in our

care as saints, now and in the future. He quoted Pope Francis who said:

“The saints are men and women who have joy in their hearts and spread it to

others. Never hating, but serving the other, is the greatest need. To pray and to

live in joy: this is the way of sanctity!”

This quote has prompted me to reflect on how we live our lives too and how

important we are as role models to our children. Joy is a big word for us at

St Joseph’s and we want our children to be full of it. We also want them to lead

holy lives of service. When they come out of school, ask them about something

good that has happened today or ask them how they have helped someone else.

Have great expectations and they will rise to them.

Wishing you all a very happy half-term.

Parents Welcome

After the Easter holiday, Year 4 took delivery of 7 eggs and an incubator from Barleylands as part of their Nature of Life topic. It was a long 21 days to wait, but finally they hatched - during the school day too! Lots of the classes visited 4B to share the exciting news.

The Big Write

On Thursday 24th May, the children arrived at school to find a parked police car and two police officers in the school playground.

A mock 'incident' had been set up, aimed at inspiring the children to use their imagination to write a fantastic piece of writing.

The police officers kindly stayed in school for the whole day and talked to children about road safety.

The police car provided lots of interest during the day!

During Green Week, children had the opportunity to learn about how they can help to look after our

environment. Our newly elected 'Eco Team' checked to see how eco-friendly each class were being throughout

the week (well done to 3T for winning the competition!) A visit from the superb 'Junk Orchestra' also showed

children some of the exciting things that they can do using recycled materials.
