Dear Painting Friends,
Well, Retreat is over for another year and I thought the Retreat Committee did another fabulous job! It is always
such fun to paint, teach and renew friendships with all of you. The raffle baskets, painted chairs and quilt were
outstanding, and I tried really really hard to win something, but it was not my lucky day!! However, it was still
money well spent to support our Club. My only wish is that more painters attend next year! So mark your
calendar now for our “Paintbrush Roundup” Retreat, April 21-23, 2017 and start saving your dollars!
So here’s what’s happening the next three months
On Sunday, May 15th, Linda Whaley is teaching her original design “The Lilly Pad” in acrylic on 8 x 10
stretched canvas. Her project sheet is in this newsletter. Linda currently has 9 students: Linda Kohler,
Michelle Kohler, Kim Kohler, Rhonda Thye, Mary Ann Slizewski, Dorothy Smith, Jan Bowen, Jean Dettenwanger
and Peggy Hermes. So come on ladies, sign up, and send me your money honey!
Sunday, June 12th class will be taught by Peggy Hermes, and she will be adding to your garden with several
smooth river rocks. Her project sheet is also in this newsletter.
Sunday, July 10th will be taught by Stephanie Hauser and her project will be available soon.
I will always send out reminders to everyone that has signed up for any of our pending classes, and new
information will be forth coming. If you have any questions, concerns or would like to add your name to a

Hello GCDA Members.
This is just a quick reminder about our 2 Service Projects for 2016. We are finishing the last of the
Walker Bags. You can paint them with the Club at our October Meeting or take some home and
paint them. Please bring the painted bags back no later than the November Meeting.
Donating toys to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Toy Drive is our second Service Project this year.
We are collecting toys for the Drive with an emphasis on Baby toys and toys, games or craft items
for teens. All donations should be new and un-gift wrapped. Please bring in by the November
Meeting also.

Thanks to all the guests who attended the 2016 “Wild About Painting” retreat. And a special thanks to my committee for all their hard work
making it another successful retreat. It can’t be done without all of you.
We had a wonderful time in spite of the cold temperatures. I hope “Ya’ll” will be able to attend next year’s retreat, “Paintbrush Roundup”,
with Jo Sharpshair as your retreat Chair. So saddle up, because it promises to be a heap ‘o fun! As usual, we’ll have more
painting, great food and fun with friends.

Jo Sharpshair, sitting at the retreat raffle table, was in charge of ticket sales for the prizes. There were
generous lavishly-filled baskets of prizes donated by individuals and craft and art supply vendors. The
donors are listed on a following page with links to business websites. Thanks to everyone who
donated the wonderful prizes that made this highly anticipated retreat activity a big success!
Jo is the 2017 retreat chair and the theme next year will be “Paintbrush Roundup”!
