Annual Village Review Our end of financial year is upon us and accounts will soon be available for inspection. An overview will appear in a future newsletter. The Community Council is here to work for and to represent you, the villagers. We would welcome your feedback on what we have been doing and would like to hear what issues you would like us to address in the future no matter how big or small. Please complete the tear off strip on the reverse and post it in the box at the post office. You can also join us for an informal chat on Thursday 22nd May 7:00‐8:30pm in the Blue Room, Village Hall.

Residents will be aware or the enormous cut backs in public services in recent years. Flintshire County Council continue to restructure services to suit budgets and this means that we as residents need to help out by informing the council of repairs and maintenance requirements for highways paths and street lighting. Perhaps the most significant aspect of routine maintenance is street lighting. Once a street light goes out then FCC are reliant upon residents reporting it the StreetScene for repair. We are very fortunate to have Bill Jones as our StreetScene Officer. Bill knows the village well but would appreciate residents’ help in reporting any incidents regarding litter, street cleansing, grass cutting, dog fouling, recycling, street lighting and highway repairs. Super fast Broad Band
A number of village residents continue to campaign for better broadband speeds for our village. At present the best speeds available are around 6mb if you are lucky…!!. Broughton and Buckley residents enjoy 25mb speeds thanks to the BT upgrade commissioned by Welsh Government. The Kinnerton exchange in Lower Kinnerton is due to be upgraded in March 2015 and we will be one of the last Flintshire wards to get fibre broadband. HKCC with the help of residents are lobbying to move the installation date forward. To find out more information visit www.superfast‐cymru.com

MacMillan Afternoon Tea – Friday 5th September This year I thought we would have a change from the usual coffee afternoon with table sales. I am planning to serve afternoon tea in the Village Hall plus a Grand Raffle. It will be by ticket, £6 per person, and will include sandwiches, cakes, tea or coffee or soft drinks. Last year everone seemed to enjoy the chance to relax, chat and catch up with news of friends and neighbours. I think it would also be a way to raise money for such a good cause and support the national event . Tickets will be on available in July but if you have any suitable items for the raffle I’d be very grateful. Please contact Margie Edwards on 661 090
