I hope everybody had a wonderful April. The month
was filled with all types of events such as a DeMolay
Degree, an Easter Picnic, Master Mason proficiency
workshops, Fellowcraft and Entered Apprentice
Seminars, building renovations and the ground breaking
of the Worshipful Ronald C. Perry Masonic Library.
Thanks to brothers Fabian Liendo, Al Bergrstom, Blain
Koenig, Wes Frye, Jerry Mann and Mr. Steve Lubich
for their assistance with the landscaping party that took
place at the lodge. Your hard work is truly appreciated
by all and is an example for all to emulate.
Brothers Matt Black and Matt Crabtree have spent
many hours putting a design and plan in place for the
Worshipful Ronald C. Perry Masonic Library. We are
now starting the implementation phase, which will
require some manual labor such as installing laminating
flooring, painting and installing new lighting. If you
have time to assist please contact myself or Brothers
Matt Black and Blain Koenig. Also, if you have any
books that you would like donate to the cause please
feel free to drop them off at the lodge.
Thank you to the brothers of Menifee Valley Lodge for
hosting our April OSI. Although OSI is to assist in fine
tuning our officer corps, it is open to all Master
Masons. Our next OSI is on May 20th at 7pm at the
Temecula-Catalina Island Lodge.
Congratulations to Brother Jerry Mann on being raised
to the sublime degree of Master Mason, to Brother
Daryl Vidal being passed to the degree of Fellowcraft
and Brothers Lucian Rigsby, Gabe Borba, and Carlos
Palma on receiving the Entered Apprentice degree.
Lastly, on behalf of everybody that attended the Easter
Picnic, I would like to thank Worshipful Russ Baldauf
and his lovely lady Ruth for allowing us to enjoy an
amazing Easter Picnic at their ranch. Also, a special
thank you to Brothers John McGoldrick and Tom
Hafeli and their ladies Kathy and Janet for their tireless
efforts in organizing this amazing event. All enjoyed
the amazing fellowship, the food was tasty and
plentiful, and the kids were able to hunt Easter eggs and
play on the jumper. The kids were even successful at
enticing Worshipful Russ onto the jumper. Check out
the pictures on our Facebook page.
As always I encourage you to keep an eye on the
calendar for many upcoming events such as our Annual
Teacher of the Year Dinner on May 11th as well as the
various Youth Order events. There is an enormous
amount of volunteer work that goes into making these
events a success. Please come out and support the
youth orders and the new brothers joining our lodge.
Your attendance is requested and your
recommendations are encouraged.
I hope everybody has a wonderful and healthy May and
I look forward to seeing you all.
Fraternally,
Dan Bagwell, Worshipful Master

r Greetings Brethren!
May is a great month for Masonry! Several important holidays occur in May, particularly
Mother’s Day. As good upstanding Masons, we should all make concerted efforts to
remember and celebrate that holiday appropriately! Our mothers would never forgive us if we
didn’t!
May is also National Recommitment Month, odd as that may sound. It is a great thing to think
about, however. What better time to recommit oneself to the principles of Masonry and to
strengthening the bonds of brotherhood. We should never forget that the core of Masonry is
brotherly love!
Perhaps the most important day in May for Masons is Memorial Day. Memorial Day is
officially celebrated on the last Monday during the month of May. Memorial Day is dedicated
to service men and women who gave their lives for freedom and country. It is also a time to
remember loved ones who have passed away. The roots of Memorial Day go back to 1865 and
the end of the Civil War. Memorial Day was first called Decoration Day. It was changed to
Memorial Day in 1882. John A. Logan gets primary credit for institutionalizing Memorial
Day. A Union Major General – Logan, as national commander of the Grand Army of the
Republic, proclaimed a day of remembrance for 30 May 1868. Logan was a Master Mason
from Illinois.
Temecula-Catalina Island Lodge is definitely a lodge that holds Memorial Day near and dear
to our hearts. Our lodge is filled with veterans and active servicemen of all branches. The
Worshipful Master is a former Marine (although I hear that no one is ever a “former” Marine -
once a Marine, always a Marine.) and I am a U.S. Army veteran. The list goes on and on.
Take a moment to remember all of the Masons and non-Masons that have served our nation
and particularly those that have paid the ultimate price for their service.
Yours in Fellowship and Brotherhood,
Bob English

Brother Chris Apgar is taking ACTION against MELANOMA - He needs our support!
Yes, I'm doing it, again! I signed-up to participate in a Melanoma Walk/Run to raise money for
melanoma research and awareness. This cause is very important to me as a stage 3C survivor.
I've pledged to raise at least $250.00 this year and am hoping to surpass the $200.00 that you -
my friends and family - gave so generously last year to support me. To do this, I need your help, again.
Please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation so I can reach my goal.
Melanoma is the fastest growing cancer in the United States and worldwide. One person dies
every 60 minutes from melanoma. And, there is no effective medical therapy for metastatic melanoma.
I'm taking on this challenge to do something big that will increase awareness and support research for
the CURE. Thanks for your continued support!
