Happy Mother's Day to all of our mothers! Mothers are such a very important part of the family. As Christians, we

belong to our families and the family of God. Baptism is how enter into the family of God. Do you desire to be baptized? Would you like to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church? Are you a member of a Protestant denomination and you would like to learn more about the Catholic faith? If so, we invite you to join us for RCIA in August. "RCIA" stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It's the process by which adults come into full communion with the Catholic Church. ATENTA INVITACION A LA VIGILIA DE PENTECOSTES.

Inicia 19 de mayo a las7 p.m. y termina 7 a.m. del día 20 de mayo 2018.

VIGILIA DE PENTECOSTÉS: En un momento de adoración y reflexión orante a través de la escucha de la Palabra, de la música y el canto, frente al Santísimo. Para pedir y recibir la fuerza del Espíritu Santo. La fiesta de Pentecostés. Es un tiempo para abrirnos al viento impetuoso del Espíritu de Dios que quiere encender en nosotros la esperanza. Es día de acción de gracias y día de pedir al Espíritu que sea «viento recio», «fuego que transforme», «agua que riega», «la luz que alumbra» para que lo que hoy empieza culmine felizmente. Y ¿Quién es el Espíritu Santo? El Espíritu Santo es Dios, es la tercera persona de la Santísima Trinidad, uno e igual al Padre y al Hijo. No son tres dioses, sino uno sólo. Un único Dios al que si tuviéramos que definir con una única palabra diríamos que “Dios es amor” Así nos lo define San Juan. Y todo ese amor que hay en el seno de la Trinidad y que une a las tres personas divinas entre si tan íntimamente, todo ese amor se hace “don”, se dona a nosotros a través del Espíritu Santo. Por eso es tan importante hacernos amigos del Espíritu Santo, porque todo lo recibimos a través de Él, todo lo que importa de verdad. Y una de las gracias que podemos pedir hoy en esta vigilia al Espíritu Santo es que nos haga comprender cuáles son las cosas que importan de verdad. El Espíritu Santo es tan importante para nosotros que dice San Pablo: “nadie puede decir Jesús es el Señor sino por influjo del Espíritu Santo” Si nosotros queremos conocer a Dios, si queremos crecer en nuestra vida espiritual, hemos de pedir ayuda al Espíritu. Y en esta Vigilia le pediremos al Espíritu Santo que nos revele a Jesucristo, que nos haga conocer verdaderamente a Jesucristo, que nos descubra su gran amor por nosotros. Pedirle también al Espíritu Santo que cumpla en nosotros las promesas de Dios, que son promesas salvadoras. En el AT, a través del profeta Ezequiel, Dios había prometido: “Os daré un corazón nuevo y os infundiré un espíritu nuevo, quitaré de vuestro cuerpo el corazón de piedra y os daré un corazón de carne”. (Ez 36, 25ss) Esta es otra promesa del padre, recibirán la fuerza del Espíritu Santo y seréis mis testigos hasta los confines de la tierra. (Hch. 1,8) Pediremos al Espíritu Santo un nuevo Pentecostés, pedidle con todas las fuerzas de nuestra alma que se derrame de nuevo sobre el mundo. El mundo necesita a Dios, necesita ser renovado por una nueva efusión del Espíritu Santo.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE

Summer is fast approaching. Whether you are off work for the summer, bored at home or retired and looking for a meaningful way to spend your time, here are some volunteer opportunities available at Helping Hands. CLOTHING DEPARTMENT: Enormous amounts of clothing are donated to us each and every day. We need volunteers to sort, hang and stock the store. For more information please call Shirley at (432) 770-1015 . HOUSEWARES/BOOKS: Call Lisa (316) 282-7266. SHOES: The person who manages the shoe department is leaving on vacation for a few weeks in June, so we are really in need for someone to step in here. For information call Julie (432) 559-3110. TOYS: A great project for a parent with children. This involves separating usable from unusable toys, stocking the store, and filling ―grab bags‖ with small toys that are great sellers in the store. Call Mary at (432) 528-6265 if interested. If your interests lie in other areas, please call any of the people involved or Mary at (432) 528-6265, let them know what you would like to do and we will see what we can find for you at Helping Hands. Our volunteers can work as hours as they want – whether it is for an hour a day for a few days each week, or several hours a day every day, we will work with your schedule. It’s a great way to spend time, and you’ll be with a fun group of people.
