The Conversation is the Relationship

Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott

Fierce Conversations: Change the world One Conversation at a time.

Fierce Conversations: While no single conversationis guaranteed to change the trajectory of a career, acompany, a relationship, or a life – Any single conversation can.

Page 5: Matthew 28:18-20

Think of a single conversation that changed your life?

We’ve all had them…

Page 6: Matthew 28:18-20

The idea behind Fierce Conversations was born in the business world has

been effectively applied in the world of education, personal lives,

leadership, and I believe it is how Jesus calls us to change the world, one

conversation at a time.

Page 7: Matthew 28:18-20

The Bible is FULL of conversations…

Acts 13, 14, 17…

Matthew 16…

John 4, 21…

Sometimes conversations are meant for another purpose, remember Genesis 3…

Page 8: Matthew 28:18-20

Where do these conversations start?

Where we start depends on where we live and who we encounter.

Where we go is settled—it’s where Christ died and rose victoriously over death.

Remember, the conversation is the relationship… Baptizing someone isn’t what keeps them in fellowship…

Sometimes

We work so hard on what to say

We forget what to be…

Our careers, our companies, our personal relationships, and our very lives succeed or fail gradually, then suddenly, one

conversation at a time.Penn State

3 Transformational Ideas

All conversations are with myself and sometimes they involve other people.

We always gather evidence to validate what we think the truth is…

Self-Talk, what are you telling yourself? Is it positive or negative?

James 1:15 …after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-

grown, gives birth to death.

3 Transformational Ideas

The Conversation is the RelationshipThe number one reason that people get fired is because of the lack of EQ not IQ.

The most important relationship is the one we have with our Lord, consider John 15.

John 15:4-6

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must

remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain

in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into

the fire and burned.

Colossians 4:6

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may

know how to answer everyone.

Page 15: Matthew 28:18-20

Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their

needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

1 Peter 3:15

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to

everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this

with gentleness and respect,

Romans 10:14-15

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they

believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without

someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
