Matthew 21

As they approached

Jerusalem and came to Bethphage

on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent

two disciples, saying to them,

"Go to the village ahead of you, and

at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt

by her.

Page 2: Matthew 21 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, "Go to the village ahead

Untie them and bring

them to me. If anyone

says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away."

This took place to fulfil

what was spoken

through the prophet: "

"Say to the Daughter of Zion,

'See, your king comes to you,

gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'“ The disciples went

and did as Jesus had instructed

them. They brought the

donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them,

and Jesus sat on them

A very large crowd spread

their cloaks on the road,

while others cut branches from the trees and

spread them on the road

The crowds that went ahead of him and

those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!"

"Blessed is he who

comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna

in the highest!"

Tabernacles and Psalm 118Leviticus 23

34 On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, the LORD's Feast of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days.

40 On the first day you are to take choice fruit from the trees, and palm fronds, leafy branches and poplars, and rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days.

42 Live in booths for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in booths 43 so that your descendants will know that I made the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.'“

1 Chronicles 161 They brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent

that David had pitched for it, and they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God.

41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, "for his love endures for ever."

David and Psalm 1181 Samuel 16: “The Stone the builders rejected”

The one who Jesse rejected has become King1The LORD said to Samuel, "I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have

chosen one of his sons to be king.“ 6Samuel saw Eliab and thought, "Surely the LORD's anointed stands here

before the LORD.“ 7But the LORD said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height,

for I have rejected him."10Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him,

"The LORD has not chosen these.“ 11 So he asked Jesse, "Are these all the sons you have?“"There is still the youngest," Jesse answered, "but he is tending the sheep.“Samuel said, "Send for him” 12 So he sent and had him brought in.Then the LORD said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one.“

1 Samuel 17: The one who comes in the Name of Lord

45 David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Exodus and Psalm 118Exodus (Exodus 14)

9The Egyptians pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea.

11[the Israelites] said to Moses, "Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? Didn't we say to you in Egypt, 'Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians'?

15:1Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: "I will sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea. 2The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.

Wilderness (Numbers 14)33Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your

unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the desert.37 those men responsible for spreading the bad report about the land

were struck down and died of a plague before the LORD.38 Of the men who went to explore the land, only Joshua son of Nun

and Caleb son of Jephunneh survived.

Psalm 1181 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures for

ever.2 Let Israel say: "His love endures for ever."3 Let the house of Aaron say: "His love endures for ever."4 Let those who fear the LORD say: "His love endures for ever.“

5 In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free.

6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

7 The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies.

8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.

God is present yesterday, today and tomorrow. His love endures for ever. He delivers, even from death, using unusual means. I will trust him and give him thanks.

Exodus

Wilderness experience

10 All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

11 They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

12 They swarmed around me like bees, but they died out as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

13 I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me.

14 The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.15 Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: "The

LORD's right hand has done mighty things!16 The LORD's right hand is lifted high; the LORD's right hand has done

mighty things!"17 I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.18 The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to

death.

God is present yesterday, today and tomorrow. His love endures for ever. He delivers, even from death, using unusual means. I will trust him and give him thanks.

19 Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the LORD.

20 This is the gate of the LORD through which the righteous may enter.21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my

salvation.22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvellous in our eyes.24 This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.25 O LORD, save us (now); O LORD, grant us success.26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house

of the LORD we bless you.27 The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. With

boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar.

28 You are my God, and I will give thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you.

29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures for ever.
