TIMING MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY5 minsRehearse-Refresh-Refine-Read-Reason-Recall

Mental & Oralstarter:Count back, Youre out.Roll 2 large dice & addthe numbers. Roll athird dice and thatnumber needs to besubtracted. If theyanswer correctly theystay in the game. Play

moves to the nextmember on the right.

Mental & Oralstarter:Play 100 BOB. Startwith multiples of ten.Count around in acircle each child saysthe next number. When the player getsto ten they say BOBand sit down. Time this

    to get faster.

Mental & Oralstarter:Count in 2s, 5s, 10susing the 100 squareon the IWB. Ask thechn to use the 100square to answervarious equations.Remind them ofMonday when we

used a number line tocount back.

Mental & Oralstarter:Play guess thenumber. Ask a childto choose a numberfrom 0-100They have to givethree clues. Chn canalso ask questions toguess the number. is

it higher than 20? Isit an even number?

Mental & Oralstarter:Play make thepattern. Give chn oneattribute block each.Using the block theymake a pattern byplacing it in the circle. Each child has a go atadding to the pattern.

    How did we continuethe pattern?

    WALTWILT

Whole Class Tuningin:Remind chn of the countback strategy.Demonstrate using acounting stick or ruler.Model 14-4=10 withyour finger starting at

14 on the counting stickand counting back.Discuss how thisstrategy can be helpfuland a good visual tool.Show how you can dothis with a number line.Give each child anumber line 0-20.

    Whole Class Tuningin:

With a 100 squareon the IWB, ask chnto show variouscounting patterns byflagging them with asticky note. Eg:

count in 2s, 5s 10s.What is your pattern.Look at numbersbefore and after.

Whole ClassTuning in:Place some numbercards on the floor.Ask a child to pick acard and haveanother child find thecorrect base 10

minis. Now ask themto show the number ifthey doubled it. placeanother mini on thefloor to show how thenumber is doubled.Continue with severalexamples.

Whole ClassTuning in:Use sticky notes forchn to come up andplace on numbersyou call out on the100 square on theIWB. Or use 100 splat

square. Start with 27and count in tens. What pattern do yousee? Repeat withother examples.

Whole ClassTuning in:Tell the chn thatshapes can flipped, slid and turned tomake patterns.Demonstrate a flip:flipped over, slide:

movement in anydirection and a turn:rotated. Model aQuarter turn and ahalf turn. (MP pg 150)Chn to use shapes tofinish the patternusing flips, slides andturns
