Chapter Set-up

Page 4: Mathematics 7-8-9 Textbook Tour

Each chapter begins with a chapter problem that connects math to the students’ world.

Page 5: Mathematics 7-8-9 Textbook Tour

Ideas from the chapter problem recur in the Check Your Understanding sections throughout the chapter

and concludes at the end of the Practice Test.

Discover the Math

• These activities are designed to help students build their own understanding of the math.

• They may be done– individually

– in small groups

– together as a class

– as teacher-led instruction

Examples and Solutions

• Worked solutions to examples show students step-by-step methods to solve the problems.

Page 10: Mathematics 7-8-9 Textbook Tour

Communicate the Key Ideas

• This is the chance for students to write and talk about the concepts from the first part of the lesson (DTM).

• Here students and teachers can assess the students’ understanding of the concepts.
