33rd Sunday in

Ordinary Time

Nearing the end of the

Liturgical Year, our

attention turns to our

vigilant and prayerful

preparation for the

return of Christ in glory.

Life is perhaps best described as a journey with

a beginning and an end. As we come to the end

of another Church Year, we are invited to reflect

on what is often referred to as the last things:

Judgment, Heaven and Hell. But we do so not in

fear but in hope, for while our earthly lives will

end, the promise of life eternal shines forth in

Christ.

Advent Mercy Project:

Prepare Christmas Meals

for Aid for Friends

Our goal is to provide

OVER 1,000 MEALS!

When: Friday, December 1,

5 to 8 PM in the Parish Hall;

Saturday, December 2,

8 AM in the Parish Hall

How You Can Help:

Many turkeys are needed! Cook a turkey and

donate it to the project. Cooked turkeys can be

brought to the Parish Hall on Thursday or Fri-

day evening, between 5 and 7:30 PM. Call Dea-

con Lindsay at 267-266-2201 or Lisa Vivino at

215-470-4481 to inform them.

Peel and cook potatoes at home. Pick up a bag

of potatoes in Rectory Meeting Room 1 when

you come to Mass on the weekend of Novem-

ber 25/26. Return the cooked mashed potatoes

to the Parish Hall on Friday evening between 5

and 7:30 PM.

Donate money towards the purchase of food

needed to make the meals. Monetary donations

may be put in the collection or dropped off at

the Rectory in an envelope marked “Project

Mercy.”

Many hands are needed at the Parish Hall to

help prepare and package the meals. This can

be a great family project: there’s a job for all!

Help is needed on Friday evening and Saturday

morning, and more help is needed on Saturday

morning.

GIFT-GIVING TREE Once again, you have the opportu-

nity to extend the Christmas spirit

by joining in our annual Gift-Giving

Tree Program. This special program

provides toys and other presents for

children from needy families within

our Parish.

The process remains the same as in previous years.

A tree with tags is set up in the Main Vestibule of

the Upper Church.

As a reminder, the procedures

are as follows:

Take a tag/tags from the tree. Purchase only

what is indicated on the tags. The tags will pro-

vide all the necessary details, including the age

and gender of the child, the type of gift and any

specific sizes that are desired. Some tags may

request a gift card, which may be purchased

through Maternity B.V.M.’s SCRIP Program.

Please do not take a tag if you cannot pur-

chase the gift and return it by the specified

date. Gift tags are designated to a particular

child for a particular gift. It would be very

disturbing if one child in a family receives

fewer gifts than other siblings.

Attach the tags securely to the gifts. In case of

monetary gifts or gift cards, the gift should be

placed in an envelope with the tag attached to

the outside of the envelope.

Return all donations of gifts, gift cards or

money unwrapped on Saturday, December 2,

or Sunday, December 3. Please make note of

these dates, because the distribution of the gifts

will take place that week.

Gifts may be placed by the St. Joseph’s Altar in

the Upper Church or in Rectory Meeting Room

2.

AGAIN, GIFTS MUST BE RETURNED ON TIME.

The process is simple and the sense of satisfaction,

enormous. We are most grateful for your past gen-

erosity and support for this worthwhile program.

For any questions, call Linda Freeman of our St.

Vincent de Paul Society at 215-676-6051. Thanks!

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY:

HELPING THE NEEDY OF OUR PARISH

Front Door of the Rectory, 9 AM-5 PM.

The Cold & Flu Season

Is Upon Us!

If you are feeling under the weather, do not

feel compelled to shake hands at the Sign of

Peace. A friendly smile and gesture will

suffice. We should all be aware that cold

and flu germs are easily spread. We should

also be more mindful of not exposing a pre-

ventable illness to our fellow parishioners,

from the youngest to the oldest and espe-

cially to those who are immune compro-

mised.

Be My Eyes: Lend Your Eyes to the Blind Be My Eyes is a free mobile app that connects blind

and visually impaired with sighted helpers from

around the world via live video connection on your

cell phone. A blind person or visually impaired re-

quests assistance in the Be My Eyes app. The chal-

lenge that he/she needs help with can be anything

from knowing the expiration date on milk to navi-

gating new surroundings. Volunteer helpers receive

a notification for help, and live video connections

are established. From the live video, volunteers can

help the blind persons by answering questions they

need answered. Every day, volunteers are lending

their eyes to solve challenges both big and small in

the lives of the blind and visually impaired. The

app harnesses the power of generosity, technology

and human connection to help blind and visually

impaired individuals lead more independent lives.
