New Sponsors for TorryFC Torrevieja is delighted toannounce Milton Express as animportant new sponsor of the club.Milton Express, who have offices innearby La Zenia, promote WinningExpress, a home-based businessopportunity specialising in creatingtax free returns from the onlinebetting industry. Current clients already benefit from anarbitrage facility regularly providing them with 2.75% monthlyreturns; higher yields are available from their sports bettingadvisory service although this by definition is more volatile. The Winning Express name will adorn the back of the clubshirts and the company will have boards at the groundheralding their sponsorship of the team whom they hope tohelp progress up the league ladder. They will offer theirservices to fans who would be interested in seeing higherreturns on their money than is generally currently available tothem, using the companyʼs specialised expertise.Milton Express chairman John Murray was keen to create asporting link in the area. “If you read the Winning Expressmission statement”, he pointed out this week, “youʼll see theidea is to create a club atmosphere whereby members benefitnot just from the services themselves but from thecommissions they can derive from introducing others to thebenefits. Iʼm delighted to be associated with FC Torrevieja, and Iʼm certain this can be a mutually beneficial partnership.”For more information on this attractive proposition then simplycontact Jeff Scott on [email protected] or at the matches;alternatively speak directly to Denise at the office on 965 994815 or email her on [email protected].

Torry RetuningA couple of senior players will no longer be wearing the FCTorrevieja shirt this season as the club seek to address the recentslump in form and drop down the league table. Pedro Lopez andInarejos are the first to depart. Sadly Pedro is suffering from aserious knee injury which looks likely to end his career. It is believedthat with the return to fitness of Rafa that Torry has a quartet ofcentral defenders to cover the two central defensive positions.

Serious discussions have taken place to understand why the teamhas performed so poorly in a couple of recent games, especiallywhere wins would have seen the club firmly established in the topfour. Instead the club is now far too close to the drop zone than iscomfortable or expected. Players and staff have been advised thatthis situation is wholly unacceptable and that performances andresults must improve, or they can expect further personnel changes.

On the slippery slope?

Torry fans who turned up to watch their heroes after Thursday'sinept performance against Borriol deserved a better performanceand although Torry started out quite brightly they had no cuttingedge and ultimately lost to a quicker, slicker outfit.

Tur had to be alert to turn an early Elche effort round the post, worryingly for Torry there were several raids down the Elche left thathad Vicente Boix chasing shadows. Elche had a couple of goodopportunities to open the scoring and the first real chance Torryhad fell to Cuco Ros who headed a good Luis Carlos cross straightat the keeper in the 20th minute. On the 34th minute another breakdown Torry's right brought a good cross which Carlos convertedwith a powerful near post header to put Elche ahead. Two minuteslater and Torry were again caught out on their right and only a nearpost intervention by Dani prevented a second goal for Elche.

The second half began with Ernesto on for the ineffective Cuco Rosand again Torry started the half brightly with Ernesto showing somecomposure on the ball and presenting the home defence withsomething to think about. Sadly for Torry a left wing corner, takenwhen Burguillos was receiving treatment off the pitch, wasconverted with an opponent unmarked in the six yard box having nodifficulty heading into the net.

Torry continued their efforts to get back in the game and after solidwork by Ernesto had good claims for a penalty after what looked ablatant hand ball. With 30 minutes left Casimiro Torres replacedJorge, who had been unluckily booked in the first half and LuisCarlos with Rafa and Manu Amores. However Elche continued tohave control of the game and Tur was forced to make a couple of

Page 7: Matchday_Dec_16_2012isu

7

Torry's first real attempt of the second half was a strong ManuAmores shot from the edge of the box on 83 minutes, which JoseCarlos dealt with comfortably. To their credit Torry did continue topress but the best they could do was a series of long range effortsfrom Ernesto, Inarejos and Abel which flew wide or over the bar.

In the 86th minute Boix was perhaps lucky to escape with a yellowafter a strong and unnecessary touch-line challenge which indicatedthe level of his frustration.

In summary it was a disappointing team performance, not to saythere wasn't effort put in by some individuals but there was littleconstructive play and the team collectively seemed devoid of ideaswhen it came to breaking down the home defence.

CD Llosa

Today's Visitors CD LlosaCD Llosa are yet another far flung Valencian side in our group andare new boys in all senses of the word. The club was formed in 1980and last season was their first in the Tercera division. It was a luckyone in that they stayed up at the expense of Requena, courtesy ofthe three points they were awarded when Castellon made a protestand failed to play them! Currently they sit one point behind Torryin the table, most recently going down at home 0-2 to high flyingNovelda. They have won their last two on the road and drew at Muro the oneprior to that, so they are capable of springing a few surprises. Theirleading goal scorer is SergiMesa Párragawhohas netted five to datethis year. The 34 year old Barcelona born player notched ten forthem last term and also enjoyed spells at La Nucia, Olimpic andDenia amongst others in his eventful career.Their El Sequiol ground is one of the smallest in the division witha capacity of only 500, sowhenwe travel therewewill need to arrive

early in case the locals have itbulging to bursting! Three winsand a draw from their first fivestarts this season got them offto a flyer, which included a 3-0win over Saguntino and a 4-0beating of Utiel. They concededtheir first goal this term in theOctober contest when losing1-0 to Alzira.

We wish Llosa a safe journeyhome, but hope it is emptyhanded, as Torry seek to stopthe rot with a final home matchwin of 2012.

Santa comes early. The Borriol players must have thought Santa came early and gift-wrapped the three points they took away from a very subduedVicente Garcia on Thursday evening. Torry had started the gamewith hope of pushing on from their fifth place, while theiropponents,in spite of a good win against Novelda last time out stilllanguished in the relegation places.Torry had the first chance when on six minutes Luis Carlos cutinside and hammered a shot against the keeper. This was a falsedawn however as Torry at times seemed to be in a collective coma.In the 10th minute Jorge passed to an opponent and was fortunatenot to see his mistake punished with a goal. However, the openerwas not far away and the Borriol number 5 took full advantage ofbeing unmarked in the six yard box to head home a left wing corner. For the rest of the game Borriol made their intentions clear, defending in numbers from set pieces, often with all 11 men in theirpenalty box. Torry's best chance during this period came when aftera quick break down the left by Koeman the ball was hammeredagainst the bar by Gasch when it looked easier to score. Torry livedto regret that miss when Abel was crowded out in midfield and theball was picked up by Borriol's number 10 who beat his man andcracked a shot wide to Manolo's right hand for the visitor's secondgoal. Abel made some amends and gave Torry a bit of hope onlythree minutes later when after a bit of ping-pong in the visitor's boxhe smashed a right foot volley under the diving keeper to make it2-1 to the visitors. For the second half Torry replaced Jorge with Inarejos and Abeltook his captain's armband and his place in the back four. However,in spite of some speedy breaks down the left by Inarejos, Torrytoiled unsuccessfully in their attempts to get back on level terms. Itseemed they were unable to put any coherent moves together andpasses regularly went astray, none of the home players seemed tohave any composure on the ball and consequently they neverestablished any control over proceedings. Indeed Borriol had achance for a third goal when a strong shot hit the post and Manolodid well to save the follow-up.

Page 13: Matchday_Dec_16_2012isu

13

In the 84th minute Borriol had a player dismissed and the Torryfaithful perhaps harboured thoughts of an equaliser. The nearestthat hope came to fruition was in injury time when an indirect free afew yards from the Borriol goal led to a shot being deflected for acorner. The referee seemed happy with this in spite of theencroachment of the Borriol players when the kick was taken.Ultimately though it was a poor performance from Torry and theydidn't deserve anything out of the game.

Group 6 Round UpInching awayThe top two - La Nucia and Novelda - both won at the weekend andare opening up a little gap between themselves and the packchasing the top four places. La Nucia managed just the one goal tobeat Denia coming in the 94th minute from defender Vico in a matchthat saw Petu sent off for two cautionable offences. MeanwhileNovelda scored two second half goals at Llosa to maintain theirplace in the top two.Third hosted fourth and shared the spoils, both Alzira and Castelloncementing their play off aspirations in a 1-1 draw. Elche moved intofifth spot by outplaying Torry with a goal in each half, with VillarrealC staking their name to sixth place, though level on points withElche Ilicitano on 27 points. Their 1-1 draw being earned with an83rd minute strike from Oncina.Muro stopped the rot with a 1-1 draw at Utiel, the hosts taking thelead after 18 minutes, but Muro levelling 7 minutes into the secondhalf. The game was notable for a fifteen minute blackout when thefloodlights failed ten minutes from the end, but all was restored forboth sides to complete the match and share the spoils. Burriana andAcero played the only goalless game of the weekend, the pointlifting Burriana above Torry in the league.Borriol took a two nil advantage just after the half hour mark - muchas they did against Torry midweek, but Jove fought back to level thecontest with ten minutes remaining. Borriol thought they hadnotched the winner on 81 only for substitute Gurrero to tie the gameat 3-3 in the 85th minute, six after his introduction. The bottom twoclubs did themselves a power ofgood with Crevillente winning 3-0 atRibarroja. Torry old boys did thedamage with Micro netting the firsttwo before Dani Mesenguercompleted the scoring with a third.
