In this semester the students will be introduced with Research Methodology, which will enable them to choose topics for dissertation in consultation with the designated supervisors. In the final semester, the students will collect, collate and analyse data and complete a dissertation comprising 10,000 to 12,000 words. The candidate must qualify in an admission test consisting of a written section and an interview. * In case of qualified candidates with relevant professional experience, the condition of 15 years of education may be relaxed. Note: Candidates with a CGPA of less than 2.5 at any level of education are not eligible to apply. Masters in Procurement and Supply Management Faculty Members Faculty members are carefully selected on the basis of academic record, teaching skills and research experience. Specialist faculty from other universities and institutions within and outside the country are also engaged for different courses. BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) was established in June 2013 through the merger of the Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) and the BRAC Development Institute (BDI) at BRAC University. It is a centre of excellence in post graduate education and research, as well as advocacy, based on rigorous research.

Masters in Procurement and Supply Management (MPSM) The Masters in Procurement and Supply Management (MPSM) programme is a valuable management tool which focuses on how organisational procedures and processes perform in purchasing and supply, including negotiating, planning, risk management and data analysis.

The MPSM course is designed to equip the students with skills to improve organisational procurement and to fulfill organisational objectives. It helps the participants to develop the knowledge base to reduce cost, improve quality and timescales, manage the supply chain and deal with legal issues. The MPSM programme, which is offered since 2012, is unique and only one of its kind in Bangladesh.

At least 4 courses, totalling 12 credits, must be studied. The programme is particularly relevant for public sector and NGO officials as well as executives from the private sector working or interested in procurement and supply chain related areas.

Course Objectives

·Provide buyers and contract and supply chain managers with the expertise to improve organisational procurement.

·Develop robust knowledge in creating quotations and contract and tender documentation, including e-systems, assessing quotations, addressing customer enquiries and supplier selection, performance issues and reviews.

·Targeted at building strategic procurement competence, giving managers the ability to formulate strategic direction and advice in terms of change management, stakeholder management and team leadership.

·To develop the ability to understand and apply demand management through manual or IT based systems, carry out stock valuation and ordering, arrange supply logistics, and implement new contracts.

Course Structure

The course is structured in two streams. The first stream starts with foundation, core and elective courses and finishes off with capstone integrative course resulting in a report/practicum. The second stream is also required to do the foundation, core and elective courses first and then undertakes a non-credit research methodology course and finishes off with a dissertation. This offers students the option to choose their preferred stream.
