So I am particularly glad to give this introduction to a very successful recent innovation, the Masters’ Picture Book. I know that many of you, like me, find it extremely useful to carry the Picture Book around with you, to show you the face of someone you will be meeting later, to remind you after you have met a group of Masters which one was which, and to be of continuing value in your Past Masters’ Association. And now it has been joined by the Mistresses and Consorts’ Picture Book, now in its fourth edition. The Lady Mayoress has found this to be a very useful resource too, and she is delighted that thisyear it has had a spin-off of two parties where Mistresses and Consorts can get together in a relaxed atmosphere. Mistresses and Consorts are now playing a greater role in the Livery movement, so this too is a very welcome innovation. These innovations are not, of course, of the sort which will make headline news! But they will be of considerable assistance to the cohesion and effective working of the Livery movement, and to the benefit to The City. Lord Mountevans Lord Mayor, Lord Mountevans

Introduction by the Lord Mayor, Lord Mountevans

When I first met you all at the Mansion House in November, I told you that my motto for theyear is “Innovate Here, Succeed Anywhere”.

So I am particularly glad to give this introduction to a very successful recent innovation, theMasters’ Picture Book. I know that many of you, like me, find it extremely useful to carry thePicture Book around with you, to show you the face of someone you will be meeting later,to remind you after you have met a group of Masters which one was which, and to be ofcontinuing value in your Past Masters’ Association.

And now it has been joined by the Mistresses and Consorts’ Picture Book, now in its fourthedition. The Lady Mayoress has found this to be a very useful resource too, and she isdelighted that thisyear it has had a spin-off of two parties where Mistresses and Consortscan get together in a relaxed atmosphere. Mistresses and Consorts are now playing agreater role in the Livery movement, so this too is a very welcome innovation.

These innovations are not, of course, of the sort which will make headline news! But theywill be of considerable assistance to the cohesion and effective working of the Liverymovement, and to the benefit to The City.
