THE GATEWAY TO THE RUHR AREA - HAMM -
Hamm is a city based in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany
and is located in the northeastern part of the Ruhr Area with an easy
access to major cities such as Dortmund, Münster and Cologne.
Hamm has a population of nearly 180‘000 and scores with its convincing fea-tures such as its location and good accessibility. The city has a well developed highway network and it‘s main station is one of the biggest railway hubs in Germany. Because of its location near the Ruhr area, Hamm offers a wide range of travel desinations and countless opportunities for freetime activities such as shopping in Essen, watching a soccer game in Dortmund or partying in Cologne.
The city has been awarded the title of „Logistics Centre of 2014 in NRW“. Close to the main German highways A1 and A2, you can find numerous big logistics companies.
All in all Hamm is a young, creative university town located in Germany‘s Ruhr district and offers all the advantages of a metropolitan region. The central bus station is located next to the main railway station in the centre of Hamm and next to the SRH campus Hamm.
DIWALI FESTIVAL IN HAMM
In colourful clothes and with traditional
Indian music SRH Hamm students celebrated the Indian festival
of lights, DIWALI. The students enjoyed the celebration as part
of the intergration project ‚ALLSTAY 4.0‘.
THE SRH UNIVERSITY NETWORK
With nearly 13.000 students, we are one of the leading
providers of university education in Germany. The SRH is a leader of nine private universities, including educational institutions in Berlin, Gera, Hamm, Heidelberg, Wiesbaden, Riedlingen and Asunción (Paraguay). As a university we offer over 150 degree programes in flexible forms of study. Each program has a different academic focus, but they all have a common core: high level of academic and didactic competence and excellence, as well as the goal of fostering the development of social skills and personal values. The FORUM Institute for Continuing Management Education for example complements the degree programes by providing a solid range of professional development options for professionals and managers.

EXCURSION TO THE COMPANY ‚FUNKE GMBH‘
During their studies, Master students visit local companies like
‚Funke GmbH‘ to give them an insight into the business world and
to provide them with a chance to network in Germany. Excursions
are part of the CORE principle of the SRH Hamm.
THE CORE PRINCIPLE
CORE - Our way of learning
CompetenceOrientedResearchEducation
The CORE principle is characterized by active learning methods that promote independent and project-based learning. Beside expert knowledge in their field of study, our students also develop comprehensive methodological, social and personal skills - everthing they need for the working world.
Our students deal intensively with a practical question over a five-week period and take a maximum of two subjects per 5-week block. Learning objectives, course contents and exams are aligned.
Our competence-based exams are written at the end of each 5-week block (eight to nine times a year). Through regular testing, our students get continuous feedback on their performance and do not need to learn for multiple exams. In this manner teaching and learning content is conveyed very effectively - and stays in mind.
We have focused on ensuring that our courses are competence-oriented. This allows our students to apply the knowledge they have acquired in practice as soon as they start their first job. Their acquired skills make them attractive to the labour market.
BVB STADIUM TOUR
One of the favourite excursions of new students is the visit of the
BVB stadium in Dortmund. The close vicinity of the SRH University
in Hamm to the Ruhr area offers perfect opportunities for cultural
excursions.

The Success Factor – Logistics!
As business becomes increasingly global in nature and therefore more complex, logistics and supply chain management are quickly gaining in importance as a success factor for companies and organizations. While logistic management primarily focuses on optimizing logistics processes within enterprises, integrated supply chain management seeks to optimize processes beyond organisational boundaries. Supply chain management centres on global planning and the cont-rolling of networks. The value creation chain ranges from the source of raw ma-terials to the end-consumer. It also includes reversing the flow of used materials and goods to recycling and disposal processes. Supply-Chain-Managers analyze, optimize and develop the business and material flow trail as well as the accompa-nying information flow.
