Mass
~What is the difference between mass and weight?
-Mass:the amount of matter in something
-Weight: depends on gravity or the force of attraction between two objects
Example: If we went into outer space, would we still have mass?
Answer:Yes, because we are still made up of moleculesWhat would we weigh?
Answer: Nothing, because there is no gravity
~What do scientists use to measure mass?Answer: A balance
~What is the base unit in the metric system used to measure mass?
Answer: grams
Length~Base unit: meter
Look at a ruler: The lines with numbers are centimeters. The smaller unnumbered lines are millimeters. (10 between each cm)

NOTE: Always measure from the ________ mark, which is not necessarily the end of the ruler!!!!
zero

Temperature
~Temperature- Measures the average kinetic energy in a substance
~Scientists measure temperature with a______________________thermometer
~A thermometer is based on two points:the __________________ and __________________ points of water.

~Freezing point in -Fahrenheit =________________oF -Celsius =__________________oC
~Boiling point in -Fahrenheit =________________oF -Celsius =___________________oC

There are __________o between freezing and boiling points of water in Fahrenheit and __________o in Celsius.
180100
Another system of measuring temperature is the __________ system. This is also in the _____________ System. 0o K is the theoretical temperature at which all motion stops. This iscalled _______________ _______________. It is equal to __________ oC. Therefore the freezing point of waterin Kelvin is _______K and the boiling point of water is _____K.
