FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT December 1, 2019 – Year A
ADVENT IS A TIME TO PREPARE FOR THE LORD In this season of Advent, we remember our place in salvation history. We remember that we, who again and again break the covenant established with God, are offered salvation through that same God who came as a baby to live, suffer, die and rise so that we may live forever with him.
Isaiah 2:1-5; Romans 13:11-14; Matthew 24:37-44

7:30 pm AA’s and Al Anon SUNDAY SCHOOL (9 am Mass) for families with children 3-10 years of age: Dec. 1 &15 beginning at 8:50 am, in the Parish Centre.
THE ADVENT WREATH is shaped in a circle, with no beginning and no end to symbolize eternity. We light the candles on the wreath because Christ is the Light of the World. The 4 candles symbolize Hope, Faith, Joy & Peace. The purple candles represent penance
but the rose or pink candle (Lit on Gaudete Sunday in the 3rd week of Advent) represents Joy. As the days grow darker, we light more candles, showing that the
light of Christ is shining over the horizon. We have hope; Christ is coming ___________________________________________________________________
