INTRODUCTION

The Indian economy has witnessed major changes in its policies during the recent years. It has now become more export oriented and one the major trusted areas in export is processed frozen meat. The export opportunity in this line activity of business is continuously rising. In view of these export opportunities, major exporters of frozen meat are establishing their own slaughter lines with meat processing plant for buffalo and sheep/ goat meat .There is huge demand of products proposed to be manufactured with the widening of demand- supply gap.

For several years export of meat from India was restricted due to poor quality of the meat products and the obsolete condition at the slaughter house. In recent years the government has made a conscious efforts to develop this sector and Indian meat now compete with the meat coming from Australia & new Zealand into the gulf. In fact meat exports are one the highest foreign exchange earners in the processed food area having crossed over Rs.65000.00 million in 2006-07.

The government of various states has approved these projects and many of the units have already started commercial production. Two companies promoted by Kerala small industries development corporation and Punjab Agro industries corporation, Chandigarh have been established in Kerala and Punjab respectively with production capacities of 10.000.00 M.T. p.a. and a company named ALKABEER EXPORTS LTD. has started a unit at Medhak, Andhra Pradesh with a capacity of Rs.15,000.00 M.T. p.a. Recently West Bengal Government has signed a MOU with a NRI company to establish plant with a capacity 2500000 M.T p.a. in west Bengal. In Uttar Pradesh two units at district Unnao, one unit in Lucknow, Khurja and Aligarh are established. Out of these foods Allana Ltd., the the largest group which is awarded as a number one meat frozen foods exporters from Government of India and named as golden super company is being pioneer in this field.

Now, it is proposed to establish a modernized slaughtering & meat processing plant (Big & Small Buffalo, Goat and sheep) complex at vill – Bichpari, Tehsil: Hasanganj, Pargana- Ajgain, Distt- Unnao, under the umbrella of Mash Agro foods ltd. All activity will be managed in proper hygienic condition and with the well developed modernized technology. Those animals that become drought & slaughtered in small public places which are harmful for society and environment will be slaughtered in this modernized unit. This will be batter for society, environment & commercially viable also.

This is the modernized unit of its own type coming up at vill- Bichpari, Distt- Unnao with modern equipped technology, with follow up of power hygienic condition. These initiatives have been by, under the umbrella of Mash Group named as MASH AGRO

PROJECT AT GLANCE

M/S MASH AGRO FOODS LTD. has been established in the month of “July 10” for the purpose of promoting “modernized slaughtering & meat processing”. The company is in process of taken all the necessary approval which are Required to set up the proposed unit like NOC from U.P Pollution Control Board, Lucknow, Certificate of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Exports, Development Authority (APEDA) for Export of food Products, certificate of import License (IEC), Provisional Certificate of SSI, Membership of National Chamber of Commerce for slaughtering & Processing meat unit.

The capital outlay of the Project is expected to be Rs. 2000 lacs and employing about 100 Person in various categories. The proposed unit will slaughter & processing of Buffalo meat, mutton poultry meat and other meat foods products and will including rendering activity of by products/ waste organs and materials. The installed capacity of slaughter plant is proposed to be 50 M.T. p.d.

The concern has already started the implementation of the project. The land for the Project has been purchased at vill – Bichpari, Tehsil: Hasanganj, Pargana- Ajgain, Distt- Unnao. The details for the factory building and the requirement of the plant & machineries has already been finalized.

The quotation from the reputed Building contractors and suppliers of the plant and Machineries are being obtained. It is expected that the unit can start of the construction of the factory building after the due approval from director of industries.

The meat processing complex will comprise a modernized unit for the processed meat for Export as well as in domestic market and the project will utilize local available rural based live stocks which have outlived their useful life. There by remunerative return to the rural farmers on one hand and valuable foreign exchange to the country on other Hand.

The survey shows that the Indian buffalo meat is the best meat in the world, despite having over 60% of the world’s buffalo population the Export of buffalo meat from India remains at a very low rate, whereas other countries where buffalo population is much low, they have very high realization. The fact has also revealed that the main reason for Indian buffalo meats Export are showing substantial increase as compare with other Countries, the reason is fear in the mind of importing countries of health hazards and UN Hygienic condition under which existing meat processing units operates outside India, to avoid the type of bottleneck and with a view to boost Export of buffalo meat and mutton from India it has been decided to establish a modern plant configuring health conscious standards.

DEMAND OUTLOOK & MARKETING

The proposed unit has been envisaged as Export as well as Domestic market oriented. The product proposed to be produced by the project will be mainly frozen Buffalo meat. India accounts for about 55% of the Global population of Buffalo and sheep / Goat. It is estimated that by 2010 about 90 million Buffaloes and sheep/ Goat would be available for slaughtering in India, potentially yielding about 9.2 million tones as against the Existing production of only 3.5 million tones. More important India buffalo and sheep/Goat meat is considered superior to even the Meat of Australia, New Zealand and other European countries mainly because Indian animals are reared essentially on green and Natural fedder. Indian buffalo meat is low in calories and cholesterol and has good quantity of protein. Even now buffalo and sheep/Goat are the single most important component in the total Export of meat products.

Since buffalo meat is consumed by a restricted section of people in the country thus most of the meat and its products are exported. There is Good demand for this meat in west Asia, Malaysia and some African Countries.

India’s export during 2006-07 was About 10, 00,000.00M.T. of processed meat products Which Accounts only 3% of World Trade, and it not commensurate with the high animalPopulation in India. Since India meat process in facilities confirming to standards, it will find ready market in Middle East and other regions thus the group is setting the Halal Certified meat plant.

The major markets where Indian meat is being sold presently are:

1. U.A.E2. Kuwait3. Bahrain4. Oman5. Muscat6. Yemen7. Iran8. Mauritius9. Turkey10. Malaysia11. Jordan12. Doha13. China14. Russia 15. USA

TECHNICAL ASPECT

PROJECT LOCATION

The project is proposed to be Located at vill – Bichpari, Tehsil: Hasanganj, Pargana- Ajgain, Distt- Unnao, at Lucknow Kanpur Highway. The company has purchased the proposed land. The site layout is attached with the project report.

INFRASTUCTURE

The proposed factory area is very well developed with very good roads, lighting, water communication etc. therefore, the unit will have all the basic infrastructure facilities. The decision to set up unit at Lucknow-kanpur highway is because of air connectivity at lucknow Amusi airport which is very nearer from the proposed factory site.

POWER REQUIRMENT

The power requirement of all these work i.e. modernization slaughtering processing of meat (Big & Small buffalo, Goat / sheep) would be 1000 KVA. The company will take the state electricity and in alternate keep the same capacity genset to have uninterrupted production.

RAW MATERIAL

At the optimum level of operation the project slaughter shall process 50 MT per day of raw material. The basic raw material required is the sheep, goat and buffalo meat. The Raw Material is proposed to be procured from the Local markets and adjoining towns of Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Sikandra, Rao, Etah, Hathras, Kasganj Khurja and jalesar. With a total buffalo population of Ever 80 million in our country (as per APEDA statistics). There is no dearth of Raw Material Availability as per AEDA survey. In fact the area wise availability of buffalos in the vicinity of the plant is as follows:

AREA LIVE STOCK (IN LACS)

POLLUTION & EFFLUENTS

WATER POLLUTION

The water used for proposed plant in cleaning and washing is expected to contain food Particles, raw meat and fat pieces. The water is also expected to contain detergents that may be used for cleaning purposes. As the raw meat shall be received dressed in poly Bags, the contamination of water from animal bodies are not expected. And there is no Chemical involved in food processing. It is also proposed that due care shall be taken to contain the spill over the raw material to avoid contamination of the water used for cleaning.

Despite various precautions envisaged a small quantity of food particles or meat pieces in the cleaning water cannot be avoided. It will therefore, be necessary to treat the water before final discharge. Thus the waste to be discharged per day is expected to have

The following parameters (Based on other foods industry outlets):

S.NO. Particulars Daily Outage1 BOD <30Mg/12 PH 7.0-8.03 TSS <100 Mg/14 COD <250 Mg/15 Oil & Grease <10Mg/1

TREATMENT

To keep the BOD of the wastewater low it is proposed that the floors are first swept dry to remove the solids waste, and it is also proposed to provide secreting of the Effluent the Level of solids contaminants. The waste water discharged is expected to contain BOD Caused by the organic matter and juice of food products.

The BOD of water shall be due to the food products and is expected to be at the levels as Envisaged above after due preventive measures. The BOD is proposed to treat bio- Logically by aerobic process. As the degradation of food may not enough nutrients like, Nitrogen & phosphorous, it may be necessary to add sufficient quantity of nutrient. The suspended solids are proposed to be removed in setting tank. The oil and grease area of organic nature and shall be removed during the biological process and separately by Grease trap. The solids food particles shall be removed by screening prior to sedimentation and biological treatment. The final discharge of effluent shall confirm the standards laid by U.P Pollution Control Board for discharge into Open server. The whole process will be at international standard and as per the U.P. Pollution Control Authorities norms.

SOLID WASTES

The solid wastes collected from the screens and sedimentation tank shall not have any food particles either raw or decomposed. The same can be used as manure or disposed off as filling of low laying area.

AIR POLLUTION

There is no Air pollution from the manufacturing process. The other possible sources of Air pollution are the generator of capacity 1000 KVA where diesel will be used as fuel. These Units do not require any air pollution control devices, hence no liquid effluent is generated. In order to meet requirement pollution Rules, the stack heights from generator set should be kept as per guidelines of the pollution control Board.
