A Month of Mash 2011 Hopes– To kick start the new year we provided you with two new writing frames around the topic of new year resolutions. There are two different templates to support both KS1 and KS2 plus stimulus videos to inspire the children’s writing. As always the activities also include relevant images and clip art plus a set of writing hints and tips. Try one of these activities at: www.purplemash.com/2011hopes2 Chinese New Year– To celebrate Chinese New Year we created a range of templates to support children as they write and research the event. There are six new topical activities including writing frames at two different levels, newspaper and poster templates, a canvas to document research and a template for children to practise writing Chinese letters. Try one of these activities at: www.purplemash.com/chinesenewyear1 Safer Internet Day- To support Safer Internet Day 2011 2Simple worked together with Engayne Primary School, Penny Patterson at Havering LA and the LGFL E-safety team to produce seven KS2 activities. The activities cover a number of important issues such as social media sites, the dangers of meeting with people met online and the benefits of internet research. Explore these activities at: www.purplemash.com/esafety Coming Soon 60 Minute Mash-over! Each month we will provide you with an inspiring lesson idea that you can use in class. This month’s lesson idea combines history with design and technology to create a Tudor village. Monster Mash Competition Ask your class to create their own monster using the textured paint projects. Email them to [email protected] and each month we will select a winning monster to showcase here. The winner will receive a home user licence of 2Paint a Picture! Issue 1 - February 2011 Step 1– Ask your class to do some internet research about Tudor style houses. Step 2– Log-in to Purple Mash and click on the Creative Tools tab. Then choose the 2Design & Make House option. Step 3– Using what they have learnt from their internet research, ask your class to create their own Tudor style houses by manipulating the shape and painting on the pattern. Step 4– Print out the Tudor houses and cut out the net. Then stick the houses together to create your own Tudor Village!
