City Ends Wireless Agreement with Network1The City Council ended its agreement with Network1 Wireless to provide wireless access throughout the city. The company requested the termination in recognition of its inability to provide the services set forth in the 2008 agreement. In addition to Maryland Heights, Network1 also requested to be released from similar contracts with seven other area

Free Concert Series Returns To ParksMusic lovers are once again invited to enjoy free tunes under the stars at the Cultural Arts Commission’s annual summer concert series. On June 4, Gene Dobbs Bradford and the Blues Inquisition will play at the Tremayne Shelter at Creve Coeur Park. On July 9, Choro Guys will perform at the same location. The St. Louis Brass Band Quintet will close out the lakeside series on Aug. 13. The series moves to Vago Park for the final show on Sept. 10, when 3 Central will perform. All shows start at 7 p.m. Concerts are free and appropriate for all ages. Residents should bring their own seating, food and beverages.

Maryland Heights History Book Release"The History of Maryland Heights" tells the city’s story from ancient times to the recent past, and it chronicles all of thechanges. According to Mayor Moeller, "It’s a fascinating read, and I think that both long-time residents and new arrivals will learn a lot about our community and how we got to where we are today."
The book will be released at the City's 25th Birthday celebration June 4th weekend at Creve Coeur Park.
Senator Cunningham’s “Health Care Freedom Act” Passed by Missouri SenateThe Senate passed the “Health Care Freedom Act,” a measure sponsored by Sen. Jane Cunningham (R-Chesterfield) in response to the recent passage of the federal health care bill.
The act was attached to a comprehensive insurance bill, House Bill 1764, and prohibits any federal law from interfering with an individual’s health care freedom—if approved by Missouri voters. According to the bill, the Health Care Freedom Act

Any person employed by a business located in Maryland Heights may receive a Business Privilege Card by providing a pay check stub (issued within the last 60 days) and a state photo ID. The Privilege Card is $5 and is good for one year. The Privilege Card allows resident business employees, resident rates on all fees and charges except Maryland Heights Centre rentals and Dogport. The card is to be renewed yearly and has the same policies as a regular Resident ID Card. The card and privileges are only available to the employee. 314-738-2588.

Pattonville honors Business Partners of Year
The Pattonville School District recently honored two area businesses as its 2010 School-Business Partners of the Year during its annual District Appreciation Night.
Patty Gould, Pattonville director of school-business partnerships, presented the partnership awards to Casa Gallardo of Bridgeton and the Ranken Jordan Pediatric Specialty Hospital.
Balls N Strikes held a Re-Grand opening under new ownership. The MHCC officiated a Ribbon Cutting in honor of the event. They are also celebrating their 5th Anniversary at the Westport Location.
1st AnniversarySince its opening a year ago, Ice Kitchen at Westport Plaza has been much more than just a hip new restaurant and vodka bar. It has evolved into a cool place to hang, meet new friends and lounge.
The venue, from Munsok So of the Drunken Fish fame, celebrated its first anniversary in May.
