    Martins Corner Hotel Betalbatim India's cricket master batsman Sachin Tendulkar, is a knownfood buff. His appetite for tasty food matches his hungry domineer on a cricket pitch. If not for

    his cricket and when traveling round the world, he has the habit of picking up the recipes fromthe restaurants and trying them in his kitchen with his chefs. One such restaurant Martins Corner

    in Betalbatim, south of Goa, has turned into the maestro's favourite eating hole, when he breezes

    into the tourist hub - Goa. The story of Martins Corner and Sachin's association started in the late90's when he first landed up at the small courtyard restaurant run by the Pereira family. Sachingot dragged to Martins corner the first time around when he was staying at his father in law's

    guest house on the beachside at Cansaulim. A few Goans recommended Martins corner to Sachinand the rest is history they say. Sachin is so fond of the restaurant that every time he comes down

    to Goa he requests the restaurant to pack a bagful of masala of the various dishes he likes, whichhe takes along with him to Mumbai. Sachin's favourite dish according to Jose Pereira is crabs

    stuffed with spices and it is one of the sea food which he carries to Mumbai. Sachin has acted asgood unofficial ambassador for the restaurant and has introduced the place to many others from

    Goa to launch the Silver Star Mobile Diabetic awareness campaign in Goa, during which he

    hosted a lunch for Amitabh Bachchan at the celebrity restaurant 'Martins Corner' at Betalbatim,recently. He was accompained by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and South Goa MP,

    Francisco Sardinha along with other cabinet ministers. According to a press release, the

    proprietor of Martins Corner gave a warm welcome to Bachchan with a bouquet of flowers, asthe tunes were strummed by noted musician Emiliano and his trio; Keith Vaz escorted him to thetable as he greeted everyone present with a smile.

    It was an exciting moment for everyone specially for the owners of Martins Corner on his arrivalat the restaurant, as it was for the first time he came there, which otherwise is frequented by rest

    of Bachchan's family. Bachchan being a vegetarian enjoyed the special touch over the selecteddelicacies prepared by the owner of Martins Corner, Carafina Pereira. At the end of the course,

    India's top Corporate Illusionist, Edmundo da Cunha, enthralled Bachchan and the audience withhis mind boggling illusion and witty patter which brought Bachchan into a cheerful mood.Illusionist Edmundo reminded him of his famous movie 'Jadugar'.

    Martins Corner known internationally for their Goan and sea food cuisine is frequented by manyBollywood stars and other celebrities of India and abroad.
