Kitten* ST MARTINS LANE /138 Designed by Phillipe Starck and part of the ultra chic Morgans Hotel Group, St Martins Lane shines from its central location amidst Convent Garden, Trafalgar Square and the West End theatre district. A renovated office building the theme of color is apparent from the entry through its tall slender yellow tinted revolving door. Entering into the dramatic lobby Stark works his magic of playing with proportions with giant columns and planters and tiny stools and tables always leaving the viewer feeling as if they stepped into the world of Alice in Wonderland. The hallways are bathed in orange light and the elevators loop video feeds of natural elements. The rooms are spacious and bright with floor to ceiling windows with playful fixed encased blinds lending a geometric linear element to the room. No minor detail is overlooked, from the Eames La Chaise to wall mounted flower pots and a glowing onyx desktop. At night guest can choose the color of their mood by rotating a dial on the wall which controls the lighting for the perfect ambient touch.
