Office Changes Please note Mark, Becky and Laura can now be found down in the old fur and feather office opposite the brewery. Sale day office set up will remain the same and all customers should continue to use the main office for both fur and feather and livestock enquiries on sale days.
Vehicle parking Customers are reminded that the bays on the docks are for the loading and unloading of livestock. Following some comments from customers over recent weeks we have decided to hatch out some bays to assist our customers during busy periods. Anyone found to be parking on these hatched areas and not actively loading/unloading will be issued with a £50 parking charge which will be levied against their account. Please help us to help you in assisting the smooth running of this busy livestock market.
Updating of customer accounts
We would like to remind all customers of the importance of keeping your account details up to date. Please ensure that we have correct and recent contact and bank account details for your account so that we can send out statements and process payments quickly and efficiently, help us to help you.
Sheep Scab
Farmers are asked to inspect their flock for signs of sheep Scab, any livestock forward, showing signs of scab will be rejected from the market.
Pay on the day Policy
We are making some changes to our customer account management system modernising and strengthening our
processes for the benefit of everyone. The main change will be that all stock must be paid for on the day; unless you
have agreed terms with Gillstream Markets Ltd. You can apply for terms using an ‘Account’ form, which can be
posted or emailed on request and are also available from the market office. If you have any questions please don’t
hesitate to contact us on 01664 562971.
Notice to vendors bringing cattle into Melton Mowbray Market
In order to comply with the Tuberculosis (England) order 2014 we would like to remind vendors when stating the TB testing date of the cattle being sent to market the date of test section should be filled out as the date of injection not
the date of the reading. The 60 day period in which animals can be moved begins on this date.
To assist us with this matter please ensure a TB test certificate accompanies all cattle entering the market, this can be sent directly from your vets to the office via email or a hard copy sent with your entry form.
Named/Numbered Sires
Vendors are advised that named sires must be officially printed on the passport of the animal and not hand written. We will not sell animals as being named or numbered sire if the sire details are not printed onto the passport. Sire details may be checked with the breed societies online to ensure that they are correct. Please
also include sire details on your blue entry forms which accompany cattle to market. Thank you for your cooperation.
Farm assurance status
Would all cattle vendors selling cattle as Farm Assured please ensure that their Farm Assurance is up to date, with all linked holdings registered to the primary holding, and ensure that the stickers used in
passports match the details held by the administering Farm Assurance body. We are increasingly having issues with linked holdings not being covered under a primary FABBL account, and severe deductions
are being applied at the time of slaughter. In such instances, the vendor is liable for all deductions made
