The workshops were an opportunity to reflect on the significance of this sacrament and the effect that receiving it regularly can have on their lives. I would like to thank Mrs Theseira, the Parish Catechetical Coordinator, for organising the workshops and to Mrs Keddie and Mrs Brescacin for their assistance. Congratulations to the students who have been selected to represent our school at the Interschool Cross Country Carnival that will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School in Kelmscott on Friday 9th June. Miss Andersen has sent specific details home to those who have been selected. We wish them all the very best and know that they will do our school proud. As you would all be aware, if students arrive to school late, they need to sign in at the office and take a ‘late card’ to their classroom. This means that if the bell has rung and they are not in class then they are late. Many students who arriving late to school are bypassing this requirement. We look forward to your cooperation in this matter. The Year 1 class will be holding their Liturgy of the Word on Wednesday 7th June. It will begin at 9:00am and it will be held in the Sacred Space. All parents and members of our community are invited to join with the Year 1 class and then stay on for the morning tea that will follow. Following the Liturgy, Father Francis will spend some time with the Year 4 class as they prepare to receive their First Eucharist. Congratulations to all the students and staff who participated in the Lifelink Lapathon. The students were very enthusiastic and many of them completed an unbelievable number of laps. I thank all our families for supporting this fundraiser and all the money raised will be sent onto Lifelink to be used in the running of their agencies. A big thank you to Mrs Rogers, Mrs Keddie and the Minnie Vinnies for the great work they did in organising this. I remind families who are yet to send in their collected money to do so as soon as possible. I am currently involved in interviewing prospective students for entry into our Kindergarten programme for 2018. If any existing families are yet to make an interview, appointment please do so as quickly as possible as interviews close on Friday June 2nd. We are currently calling for expressions of interest for our 3 year old Kindergarten programme. This hasn’t run over the last two years due to insufficient numbers. We need at least 15 students for this to be a viable option. If you are interested in the programme or know of other families who may be interested, please collect a form from the office. Religious Education News

First Eucharist 2017 Last night we had two workshops for our Eucharist students and their parents, run by Mrs Theseira from the Parish. Thank you to all who attended and participated in the sessions. The Year 4 students and Mrs Brescacin will travel to Schoenstatt Shrine on Wednesday 14th June. The following weekend, the students will receive their First Eucharist at either the Saturday night Mass or Sunday morning. Please keep the children and their families in your prayers as they enter into the final weeks of preparation. Pentecost Sunday This Sunday 4th June marks the end of the Easter Season and we celebrate Pentecost Sunday. Jesus did not abandon the apostles and Mary but sent the Holy Spirit to them. It was on this day that many people were baptised by the apostles, the day when whole communities started to accept and live by Jesus' message, so it's also known as the birthday of the Church.

God of power,

may the boldness of your Spirit transform us, may the gentleness of your Spirit lead us, and may the gifts of your Spirit equip us

to serve and worship you now and always. Amen.

PRE-PRIMARY NEWS The children took part in last Friday’s ‘Lapathon for Life-Link’ with great enthusiasm and they so enjoyed being part of the ‘big school!’ They ran and walked around the oval trying to score as many ‘marks’, on their wrist bands as they could. Well done Pre Primary - this was a great effort! Thank you to all the families who donated so generously to this very worthwhile cause. Our first class assembly will take place on Friday 16 June. Next week, the children will be given a copy of their words to practise at home. I will send out a letter, regarding ‘assembly costumes etc’, nearer the date. Have a great week! YEAR 6 NEWS

In Year Six we have had a busy two weeks. We said goodbye to Mrs Rogers as she prepares for her baby and welcomed Miss Hibben.

As part of our Civics and Citizenship studies we have been learning about Australia’s System of Government. Throughout this unit our classroom will be transformed into a mini city, with students taking on crucial roles to assist our city in running smoothly. The Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister are elected into their positions so they have to prepare a speech and we then have a secret ballot to determine who is elected for that fortnight.

We are looking forward to see how our mini city goes!
