TO ALL MARITIME HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION (MHEIs)
SUBJECT CONDUCT OF THE TRAIN THE SIMULATOR TRAINER ANDASSESSOR COURSE (IMO MODEL COURSE 6.10) BY THE MARITIME INDUSTRY AUTHORITY AND THE COMMISSION ON
HIGHER EDUCATION, IN COOPERATION WITH THE MARITIME
ACADEMY OF ASIA AND THE PACIFIC
With reference to the commitment of the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) as
the single maritime administration of the Philippines responsible for the
implementation and enforcement o f the STCW Convention, as amended, the
MARINA and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), in full cooperation with
the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP), shall be conducting the Train
the Simulator Trainer and Assessor Course (IMO Model Course 6.10). This forms part
of the Administration-approved requirements fo r simulator instructors and
assessors.
The above course will be provided fo r free. MAAP, however, will collect a minimal
amount o f P300.00 per day to cover fo r meals and P200.00 per night fo r the lodging,
for a total of PI,800.00 fo r the whole duration of the training.
This endeavor intends to augment the capacity of the faculty members of recognized
MHEIs to fully comply w ith the CHED Memorandum Orders 20-2014 and 20-2015.
The training schedules are as follows:
July 11-14, 2017
August 15-18, 2017
September 12-16, 2017
October 24-27, 2017
November 14-17, 2017
December 12-15, 2017

All MHEIs are hereby enjoined to submit to MARINA c/o the Executive Director of the
STCW Office, the names of duly screened and qualified instructors and assessors for
orderly scheduling in view of the intake policy being observed.
