Lord, Help Me to Live This Day
Lord, help me to live this day, Quietly, Easily
To lean upon Thy great strength, Trustfully, Restfully,
To wait for the unfolding of Thy will, Patiently, Serenely,
To meet others, Peacefully, Joyously,
To face tomorrow Confidently, courageously.
St Francis
Dear Parents, Students and Friends,
The HSC Exams are about to enter the third week-two weeks down and two weeks to go. Some
students have only one more exam whilst others have two or three. It is a very big week for many of
our students. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.
Next week will be a very “active” week. Students from Years 8 and 9 that are involved in our Duke of Edinburgh program are trekking
through the Southern Highlands on during the first few days! Marian has been running this internationally acclaimed program for a
number of years and I can’t recommend this program of self growth and teamwork highly enough. It is voluntary to participate but it
comes with its own requirements and students and families need to be aware of the commitments. You can research the Duke of
Edinburgh Award Scheme by visiting the website http://www.dukeofed.com.au/ . There are quite a few you-tubes on the Award
scheme to view as well. We wish this group safe and enjoyable trekking and I thank Mr Segrave and Ms Vardanega for organising
the trek and going with them.
This coming week also sees our Year 8 students challenging themselves in their Community Day. Year 8 students are involved in the
annual “Survivor Day”. They focus on team building exercises in a fun and interactive way. This is usually an enormously successful
day, enjoyed by all.

Fr Christian—College Chaplain The past few Sundays presents us with lessons on prayer. It might be good for us to reflect on these beautiful words of Mother Teresa on prayer. The fruit of silence is PRAYER. The fruit of prayer is FAITH. The fruit of faith is LOVE. The fruit of love is SERVICE. The fruit of service is PEACE. Everything starts with prayer. Love to pray--feel the need to pray often dur-ing the day and take the trouble to pray. If you want to pray better, you must pray more. The more you pray, the easier it becomes. Perfect prayer does not consist of many words but in the fervor of the desire which raises the heart to Je-sus. 61 Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta God bless. Fr Christian
Another exciting week in the Science Department with a group of year 7 students visiting Altina Park to check out the characteristics that scientists use for classification. The rest of the year 7 students will go on MONDAY if they have their permission notes in.
Many thanks go to Ms Davis, Mr Chowdhury, Mrs McIntosh and Mrs Zarins who accompanied the students and enjoyed the animals and fine weather. They had a short walk to visit the Meerkats, Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Marmoset monkeys, Crocodiles and Red pandas to name just a few.
Then they had a ride on the Clydesdale drawn carts with well informed presenters on each of the four carts
There were such a variety of animals to watch as they were being fed from Lions, Buffalo, Deer, Zebras, Wild dogs, Rhinos and Hyenas and Giraffes. Then some students got to hand feed the Camels right up close and friendly. The group enjoyed the beautiful weather and had a nutritious packed lunch which they had brought from home and a chat with their friends.
The Year 7 students who are going on MONDAY are asked to remember a HAT, WATER, LUNCH and SUNSCREEN. They will leave from the College at 9:10 after homeroom and return for period 4.

After some very strong performances at Combined Catholic Colleges (CCC) Athletics, Marian Catholic College had
three students go on and compete at NSW All Schools Athletics on Friday 14 October. The All Schools Carnival
combines the best athletes from Combined High Schools (CHS), Association of Independent Schools (AIS) and
Combined Catholic Colleges (CCC); with the top placings awarded a position at Nationals Australia All Schools in
Canberra in early December.
I am very pleased to announce that Marian Catholic College had the following outstanding results at NSW All
Schools Athletics:
U12 NSW All Schools
Delroy Kasawaya
1st Place in 800 m
AWD NSW All Schools U12 – 15 Multi Class
Noah Negus
2nd
Place in 100 m, 200 m, 800 m
3rd
Place in Long Jump
4th Place in Shot Put
Sara Negus
4th Place in 100 m, 200 m and Long Jump
All three students should be congratulated on these fantastic results. Delroy will now be
competing in early December at Nationals in the 800 m event and Noah will have a full program,
competing in the 100 m, 200 m, 800 m and Long Jump events.
A great effort and we wish them all.

PASTORAL CARE NEWS Students from the COMMUNITY ACTION TEAM presented the second of
two blankets that have been hand knitted for the charity “Wrap with Love”
There are millions of people in the world suffering extreme cold. In 1992
Wrap with Love began with the idea to help as many people as possible
by providing warm Wraps to ward off hypothermia and in the past 24 years
they have sent more than 400,000 wraps to people in over 75 countries,
including Australia. The majority of members of the C.A.T were non
knitters however with patience and perseverance from our
mentors from Griffith’s “Knatty Knitters” we were able to
learn and develop a new skill resulting in the creation of 56
squares which collectively created two warm and sheltering
wraps.
The team presented the blankets along with a gift of flowers
to our mentors Mrs Ada Snaidero and Mrs Jan Kurtzman
thanking them for volunteering their time and have invited
the ladies to join them in 2017 to again work together to
create further items to be donated to charity.
Thank you to everyone who was involved or came to support our students at last Saturday’s Griffith Multicultural
Festival. MCC students were involved in fashion, art, face painting, food, music and of course dance. The students
welcomed the opportunity to celebrate their culture and be involved in a Griffith community event. There are some
brilliant images included on the MCC facebook site.
The next activity to be launched will be the Christmas Hampers. Marian Catholic College has been donating
Christmas hampers to St Vincent DePaul for several years and for many families who are
experiencing financial hardship or distress the hampers represents the true spirit of
Christmas and bring joy to a family who may not otherwise be able to celebrate this
significant event. More details will be included in our school newsletter in the near future.
Have a wonderful WEEKEND AND STAY SAFE.
Regards Sue Hone (Pastoral Care Worker)
ART CLUB
The art staff will be hosting an Art Club every Thursday
afternoon from 3:30 till 4:30. Students will have the
opportunity to work on class assessments or their own
creative project.
All are encouraged to attend, even if not currently studying
the subject (however these students will be required to
bring specialised materials eg canvases).
We look forward to seeing what masterpieces you can
create!
