Marco Polo’s Birth

• Marco Polo was born in Venice, Italy around 1254.

About their journey• His father and uncle, who

were merchants, journeyed deep into Asia until they finally came to China and the court of Kublai Khan.

• Kublia Khan grandson of the conqueror Genghis Khan, was a man with intelligence.

Marco Polo started exploring

• He started exploring in 1271 and ended in 1295.

• They reached Shang- Tu in 1275.

Marco Polo went on a journey

• When he was 17 he went on a courageous journey.

• In 1260 he made an overland journey.

• Marco Polo served as a government official while on his journey to China.

• In 1292 the Polo’s moved away from China.

• Marco Polo’s mother died when he was 15.

• His dad, uncle and him left China in 1292 as escorts for a Mongol princess traveling by sea to marry a Persian prince in Iran.
