PLan 10 ... PROVEn PROGRaM

The World Cup takes place only every four years — last time it was held in 2006, and our partners in Argentina rolled out a pilot program: “Plan 10.”

They developed a beautiful soccer-themed edition of the Book of Hope that was sure to appeal to young people caught up in the excitement.

Church-sponsored, soccer-based outreach events that attracted children and youth who were enthusiastic about the World Cup were designed.

They trained Christian young people in an evangelism program: each one would receive 10 copies of the Book of Hope to share with 10 friends, and invite them to the events.

The response was overwhelmingly positive!Young people who love soccer are passionate about

anything to do with the game. They came to the events, and by God’s grace, lives were transformed!

This year, we’ll roll out Plan 10-style evangelism for the 2010 World Cup as culturally appropriate in six nations of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as nine nations of Africa.

We’ve tested the program, seen its impact, and believe God will use it on a global scale in 2010.

SOUTH aFRICa ... BaFana BaFana

This year South African’s national team, Bafana Bafana (The Boys! The Boys!) has made the cut for the first round of the World Cup.

They’ll play in one of the very first matches in June — and even if they’re eliminated, teams from Ivory Coast and Ghana are

thought to have a real chance at becoming Africa’s first teams ever in the Semi-Finals ... perhaps even the championship.

Across the continent, African boys and girls are filled with pride to be hosting the World Cup and to have their own teams qualified to play.

We’re making the most of this fervor with Plan 10 programs in Africa. In one of the poorest provinces of South Africa, we’ll conduct full-out soccer clinics.

Our partners will present 15-18 soccer clinics in the province of Limpopo,

holds an even more exhilarating promise for this summer:

The opportunity to engage over 23.1 million children and youth with God’s Word through soccer-themed outreach events sponsored by their local churches!

In 15 nations throughout Latin America and Africa, our partners will harness soccer fever to reach out with God’s love for the next generation.

for poor children who want to work on their soccer skills. They’ll have fun playing soccer and get life lessons from volunteers who will share the gospel and show The GodMan film.

The participants will receive the special edition Book of Hope and their own soccer ball in colors that tell the story of salvation, and reminds them of God’s plan for them.

HOPE FOR HaITI!

Our partners in Haiti will also be part of the outreach during the World Cup. They believe soccer camps are the perfect way to reach out to children

and youth still struggling with the aftermath of January’s devastating earthquake.

This summer, thousands of Haitian children in desperate need will have the opportunity to forget about the horrors of the past, develop better soccer skills, and learn about the life-transforming love of Jesus.

THE GODMAN’S SOCCER STORY

God has already prepared the way for effective ministry during the 2010 World Cup in

Africa —The African version of The

GodMan film contains a live-action introduction and conclusion that follows the story of some African

children on their way to a soccer match.

The children in the live-action story get into trouble and then learn about forgiveness and hope from a man who tells them the story of Jesus ... only to find out that the man is the referee at the soccer match they’re attending.

This special tie-in to the sport will make The GodMan film even more easily and effectively integrated into the World Cup outreach!

PaRTnERS — you make ministry happen!

What do you know — you have a partner in India!

Around the world, churches, sister ministries and other missions organizations have come alongside you and OneHope to give our Scripture engagement products to the next generation.

We’re happy to introduce you to just a few of your partners from across the globe:

• aCOMI. The vision of ACOMI is to take the gospel to every individual in India and abroad and to see churches planted among every unreached people group in India, with particular attention to the

Dalits (former “untouchables”) and minority tribes. Through schools, orphanages, hospitals and jails, ACOMI teams are delivering God’s Word to children and youth, using both the printed Book of Hope and The GodMan film.

• Evangelical alliance in argentina (aCIERa). This fellowship represents 70% of all the evangelical churches in the nation and has partnered with OneHope

in a research project on the best ways to reach the next generation with God’s Word. The partnership was so successful, ACIERA agreed to engage in a Scripture distribution project, and as of this writing have presented God’s Word to 500,000 children and youth in the final months of 2009 and early 2010.

• Haitian-dominican dialogue. This is a partnership of ministries on the island of Hispaniola, reaching children in Haiti and the Dominican Republic with the gospel. Through churches and community events in 2009, they presented God’s Word to one million children

and youth in Haiti and 750,000 in the Dominican Republic.

• Joshua Generation. It’s an unusual ministry ... because the founder is just 13 years old! He’s Joshua, a Christian from the Guambiano tribe of indigenous people in Colombia. He wanted to reach his people with the message of the gospel and started showing The GodMan film to children on Tuesday afternoons at his house. The

“congregation” at Joshua’s house on Tuesdays became bigger than some local churches, and today, Joshua and his ministry remain

committed to reaching the next generation with the life-transforming Word of God.

• KidsGames. This sports-based program for children aged 6-14 partners with local churches, schools and governments to present values education with dynamic sporting events. Several Olympians and professional

Christian soccer players are part of the program, and their stories provide practical illustrations for the children and youth. Their events now include the distribution of the Book of Hope. Of special significance this summer is the soccer-themed Book of Hope called Champions. We have already worked with KidsGames in Madagascar, South Africa and Uganda.

• King’s Kids Portugal. This is a part of the worldwide

ministry of Youth with a Mission (YWAM) and helps local Christian teenagers to participate in fulfilling the Great Commission. They organize children’s

ministry and have conducted programs on mainland Portugal, the Portuguese islands of Madeira and the Azores, also in the south of Spain. The Book of Hope is distributed during their outreaches.

• The Message Trust. Working in schools, communities and prisons, this outreach touches the lives of about 100,000 young people

every year in the Greater Manchester area of Great Britain. They’ve developed a history of getting through to even the hardest-to-reach young people. The Book of Hope is one Scripture engagement tool they’re using at the large scale events.

• Woodpecker Life development. Taiwan’s original inhabitants are Aboriginal tribes of South Seas people. Today, these indigenous tribes are a tiny minority in Taiwan, many isolated in the mountains, cut off from the modern world, impoverished and very nearly

forgotten. Woodpecker Life Development ministry helps them with literacy, job skills training, compassionate aid — and now, delivering God’s Word to children and youth in desperate need.

With your help, we’ll touch the lives of over 70.2 million children with God’s Word this year!Founder

Bob HoskinsPresident Rob Hoskins

We love it when a plan comes together! We prayed for years that God would bring

us exactly the partners He wanted to join with us and OneHope ... today, you’re living

proof that our prayers have been answered. We’re so grateful to you!

His plan continues to come together in other ways, too — He has sent amazing partners to us, in nation after nation around the world.

Thank God for this!As you have seen the list of just a few of these partners in

this edition of the Global Report ... we’re asking you to pray for them.

Many of them work in areas where there’s opposition to the gospel, and there’s intensive spiritual warfare.

Your prayers will make an important impact. Thanks for your faithfulness. You’re part of God’s

wonderful plan to bring His Word to every child and youth on the face of the earth ...

It’s a plan we know He loves to see coming together!

Sylvia Walker, winner of the 2010 Legacy awardSylvia Walker, OneHope’s former Latin America Area Director, was honored on February 22 as our 2010 Legacy Award Winner. Sylvia had served as a missionary in Mexico and came to OneHope as Founder Bob Hoskins’ administrative assistant in July of 1986. Her skills, fluency in Spanish and familiarity in Latin America quickly led her to a position of OneHope leadership in Latin America, where she was instrumental in opening doors to reaching millions of children and youth with God’s Word. Thank you, Sylvia, for your awesome legacy of love.

Whose mission is it, anyway?

Your faithful giving to the Hope for Haiti Matching Challenge had just ended on December 31 last year when — barely two weeks later — disaster struck!

The 7.0 earthquake devastated Port-au-Prince and killed tens of thousands.

Friends like you were eager to respond with compassionate relief and God’s Word ... and the partners who had donated the matching challenge fund wanted to help, too:

They extended the challenge for January, matching every gift in order to provide an additional 500,000 copies of the Book of Hope to be distributed along with earthquake relief efforts. Praise God! And please pray:

• Pray that families will be healed from the trauma.

• Pray the hearts of children and youth will be open to receive God’s life-transforming Word as they recover from this tragedy.

• Pray for OneHope teams delivering compassionate aid and the Word of God.Our teams face great challenges, and

great opportunity to share the gospel.Thank you for your generosity, and for

your prayers. You’re bringing the hope of Jesus Christ to the people of Haiti. Go to www.onehope.net to get an update on OneHope in Haiti.

THE SPECIaL EdITIOn

BOOK OF HOPE

First developed for Plan 10 during the 2006 World Cup, the special-edition Book of Hope meets the heart-felt needs and builds upon soccer themes to engage children and youth who are excited about the sport.

Worldwide, children love soccer! For the 2010 FIFA World Cup this summer, we’ll capitalize on this enthusiasm to reach them with God’s Word.

OneHope’s mission is to affect destiny by providing God’s eternal Word to all the children

and youth of the world ...... but the truth is, it’s not our

mission at all — it’s God’s mission. He simply entrusted it to us, and called you to stand with us and help carry it out!

He’s the one with the eternal vision, the unstoppable passion, to reach lost children and youth and bring them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

He’s the one who has called us together, to pray and to give, in good times and bad ... and He’s the one whose Word promises He’ll provide for us when we’re faithful to Him.

Thanks for accepting the call to be part of His eternal redemptive plan for the next generation.

Thanks for giving from a heart of gratitude, and a passion for children and youth to come to know their Savior.

May God bless you because of your generous heart!

The special-edition Book of Hope designed for the 2010 Soccer Outreach features a soccer theme to keep children engaged with the Word.

OneHope was founded in 1987 by missionary Bob Hoskins and is reaching the world’s children and youth with Scripture that speaks directly to their lives and culture. Through OneHope, in collaboration with churches and ministries — and working with local governments, schools and non-governmental organizations — a message of hope has been given personally to over 620 million children and young people in 125 countries through its Book of Hope publications and The GodMan animated film. Using outcome-based research, OneHope continues to innovate its ministry model and offers its expertise and resources to other child-focused organizations.
