World Book Day - 7th March
World Book Day is the world’s biggest campaign to provide every child and young person in the country
with a book of their own.
To celebrate World Book Day children can come to school dressed as their favourite character from a
book. You can find some great ideas for costumes in this booklet. We would ask for a small donation of
£1.00, which will go towards books for our library.
Every child receives a World Book Day token, which entitles them to one free £1 World Book Day book or
£1.00 off a book or audio book worth £2.99 or more in all participating book shops. The tokens are valid
between 28th February and 31st March 2019.
The Touring Norwich Puppet Theatre will be performing Thumbelina to all our early years children,
along with children from another local school on Tuesday 5th March 2019.
Hans Christian Andersen's tale of a girl no bigger than a thumb and her encounters with a frog, mouse, mole and swallow, is played gently amongst gardening tools, leading her to ultimate happiness in the kingdom of flowers.
The theatre will be using traditional glove, rod and shadow puppets, this is an excellent introduction
to the magic of theatre.
This will also link in with our ‘Once Upon a Time’ learning theme and will be a great opportunity for
the children to experience live theatre within the school and see storytelling though a different
media.
Norwich Puppet Theatre is renowned for its high quality puppetry productions for family and early
years audiences which tour around the UK and internationally.

to life for our children in a fantastic Cinderella Experience School Workshop! The workshop uses
drama, costume, museum objects and more to create unforgettable learning experiences .
The children will get to meet Cinderella, The Fairy Godmother, Dusilla (The Ugly Sister), and a
footman to Prince Charming.
Great Yarmouth Library—Friday 15th March
After a suggestion from two of our children that they wanted to go to the library, we have arranged
for Donaldson Class to visit Great Yarmouth Library after they have been to Elizabethan House. The
class will listen to fairy tale stories read by a Librarian and also have the opportunity to realise the
exciting things the library has to offer.
