This service consists of praying the psalms

in anticipation of His Resurrection at Easter.
It is a time of entering more deeply into the mysteries of
our faith, giving ourselves time to ‘come aside and rest
awhile’ in the presence of the Lord.

Chrism Mass – On Tuesday, April 16 at 5:30 pm at the Cathedral of Saint Peter the Apostle in Jackson, MS.
Bishop Kopacz will bless and consecrate the Oils of the Sick, Oil of Catechumens and the Sacred Chrism at this Mass. Representatives from all the parishes will receive their oils and carry them back to their parishes in time for Holy Thursday.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION.
FAMILY IDEAS
The prayer after Communion is different for each Mass.
We give thanks to God and ask God’s help to go out and
follow in the footsteps of Jesus. The Catechism of the
Catholic Church reminds us “The Eucharist commits us
to the poor” (paragraph 1397). We are called to care
about other people, to work for justice, and to make the
world a better place.
Stress to the children that we are to think of how
we can help others rather than what we want
other people to do for us. For many children this
requires a different way of thinking. Start small
by asking children to make cards for someone
who is sick.
Teach very young children to pray using an
‘echo’ prayer. Say one short phrase at a time, and
let the children echo the words. Start with the Our
Father and Hail Mary.
FAMILY PRAYER
God of Glory, give us hearts full of hope, and lives filled
with love for others. Show us how to live as a family with
love and compassion toward others. May we witness to
your love and share the good news of jesus Christ with
others. Amen.
NOTE TO FIRST COMMUNION FAMILIES
After we say our own prayers to God in our bench, we
pray together as the priest reads the prayer after
Communion. We respond “Amen” as we make the prayer
our own. Praying together reminds us that receiving Jesus
Christ in the Eucharist is done as part of a community.
Our relationship with God involves other people.

La oración después de la Comunión es diferente para cada
misa. Damos gracias a Dios y pedimos la ayuda de Dios
para salir y seguir los pasos de Jesús.
El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica nos recuerda "La
Eucaristía nos compromete con los pobres" (párrafo
1397). Estamos llamados a cuidar a otras personas, a
trabajar por la justicia y a hacer del mundo un lugar

56. Only on the basis of God’s gift, freely
accepted and humbly received, can we cooperate
by our own efforts in our progressive
transformation.[62] We must first belong to God,
offering ourselves to him who was there first,
and entrusting to him our abilities, our efforts,
our struggle against evil and our creativity, so
that his free gift may grow and develop within
us: “I appeal to you, therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, to present your bodies as a
living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God”
(Rom 12:1). For that matter, the Church has
always taught that charity alone makes growth in
the life of grace possible, for “if I do not have
love, I am nothing” (1 Cor 13:2).
57. Still, some Christians insist on taking another
path, that of justification by their own efforts, the
worship of the human will and their own
abilities. The result is a self-centered and elitist
complacency, bereft of true love. This finds
expression in a variety of apparently
unconnected ways of thinking and acting: an
obsession with the law, an absorption with social
and political advantages, a punctilious concern
for the Church’s liturgy, doctrine and prestige, a
vanity about the ability to manage practical
matters, and an excessive concern with
programmers of self-help and personal
fulfilment. Some Christians spend their time and
energy on these things, rather than letting
themselves be led by the Spirit in the way of
love, rather than being passionate about
communicating the beauty and the joy of the
Gospel and seeking out the lost among the
immense crowds that thirst for Christ.[63]
UN LLAMADO A LA SANTIDAD

56. Solamente a partir del don de Dios, libremente
acogido y humildemente recibido, podemos
cooperar con nuestros esfuerzos para dejarnos
transformar más y más[62]. Lo primero es
pertenecer a Dios. Se trata de ofrecernos a él que
estuvo ahí primero, de entregarle nuestras
capacidades, nuestro empeño, nuestra lucha contra
el mal y nuestra creatividad, para que su don
gratuito crezca y se desarrolle en nosotros: «Os
exhorto, pues, hermanos, por la misericordia de
Dios, a que presentéis vuestros cuerpos como
sacrificio vivo, santo, agradable a Dios» (Rm
12,1). Por otra parte, la Iglesia siempre enseñó que
solo la caridad hace posible el crecimiento en la
vida de la gracia, porque si no tengo caridad, no
soy nada (cf. 1 Co 13,2).
57. Todavía hay cristianos que se empeñan en
seguir otro camino: el de la justificación por las
propias fuerzas, el de la adoración de la voluntad
humana y de la propia capacidad, que se traduce
en una autocomplacencia egocéntrica y elitista
privada del verdadero amor. Se manifiesta en
muchas actitudes aparentemente distintas: la
obsesión por la ley, la fascinación por mostrar
conquistas sociales y políticas, la ostentación en el
cuidado de la liturgia, de la doctrina y del prestigio
de la Iglesia, la vanagloria ligada a la gestión de
asuntos prácticos, el embeleso por las dinámicas
de autoayuda y de realización autorreferencial. En
esto algunos cristianos gastan sus energías y su
tiempo, en lugar de dejarse llevar por el Espíritu en
el camino del amor, de apasionarse por comunicar
la hermosura y la alegría del Evangelio y de buscar
a los perdidos en esas inmensas multitudes
sedientas de Cristo[63].

WHEN DID I WELCOME YOU? WHEN YOU DID IT TO THE LEAST……MT. 25:35ff.
The Priests of the Sacred Heart, the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas (Srs. Emily and Carolyn) and the
School Sisters of St. Francis (Srs. Margaret Sue, Rose, Ramona Ann and Julene) are giving substantial
financial assistance to the migrants at the border in TX. Sisters of Mercy and Sisters of St. Francis have
community members working full time in McAllen, Laredo and Sr. Emily’s sister, Sr. Emile, DC
(Daughter of Charity) is working in El Paso. All are serving the asylum seekers. Our information from
them is first hand reality news. Because detention centers are full, people are being arrested and given a
letter which says: You have been arrested, you have permission to travel to where sponsors are, usually
family members and you must appear at court on such and such a date.
“What can we do?”
1. PRAY Great idea but prayer usually demands ACTION.
2. Make a donation from a small sacrifice……Sr. Emily can see that it gets to the right people.
3. GO TO THE BORDER TO HELP- You would need to take your car and stay in a hotel. Sr.
Emily has the info if you would like to go to McAllen, TX.
4. Help out at home—Sacred Heart Southern Missions. More information in the gathering space.
5. Go to the MEMPHIS BUS STATION AND HELP OUT.
MARIPOSA (meaning butterfly) is the name of a group of VOLUNTEERS giving help to
asylum seekers who are mainly from Honduras or Guatemala and who have sponsors (family
members) here in the U.S. They have been dropped at bus stations in Texas and are making
their way to sponsor families. 5 or more busloads arrive daily at the Greyhound bus station.
There are 2 ways to volunteer:
A. Assist in helping the asylum seekers get onto the connecting buses in Memphis (major schedule
delays are common with the bus line) heading toward their final destination. There is no one
employed by Greyhound that speaks the language, so Mariposa is there to help and distributing
sandwiches and snacks, water, distribute clothing, diapers, toiletries etc. as needed at the Greyhound
Bus Station on Airways near the airport. There are at least 5 buses that come into the Memphis
Terminal every day including weekends. With at least 35 buses coming in the need is great for
volunteers.
B. Prepare the sack lunches given out at the bus terminal. Prepare toiletry bags, sort clothes, etc.
This is done at the First Congregational Church located at 1000 South Cooper Ave. Memphis, TN.
38104. Preparation is done in 2 shifts @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM every day.
Information and training is held every Tuesday night at 6.00 pm at First Congregational Church.
This session is about 90 minutes long.

Los Sacerdotes del Sagrado Corazón, las Hermanas de la Misericordia de las Américas (Hermanas Emily y
Carolyn) y las Hermanas de la Escuela de San Francisco (Hermanas Margaret Sue, Rose, Ramona Ann y
Julene) brindan asistencia financiera sustancial a los migrantes en la frontera en Texas. Las Hermanas de la

Emily tiene la información si desea ir a McAllen, TX.
4. Ayude en casa—Misiones del Sagrado Corazón. Más información en el área de reunión.
5. Vaya a la ESTACIÓN DE AUTOBUSES GREYHOUND DE MEMPHIS Y AYUDE.
MARIPOSA es el nombre de un grupo de VOLUNTARIOS que brindan ayuda a los solicitantes de asilo
que son principalmente de Honduras o Guatemala y que tienen patrocinadores (miembros de la familia)
aquí en los Estados Unidos. Estas personas abordan autobuses en Texas y viajan hacia las ciudades en
donde viven sus patrocinadores. Diariamente 5 o más autobuses llegan a la estación de autobuses de

Hay 2 formas de ser voluntario:

tiene a nadie que hable español, por lo que Mariposa está allí para ayudar y distribuir bocadillos,
agua, ropa, pañales, artículos de aseo personal, etc., según sea necesario en la estación de autobuses
Greyhound en Airways cerca del aeropuerto. Hay al menos 5 autobuses que llegan a la Terminal de
Memphis todos los días, incluidos los fines de semana. Con al menos 35 autobuses que vienen con
necesidades es ideal para voluntarios.
B. Preparar los almuerzos que se reparten en la terminal de autobuses, bolsas con artículos de aseo
