Art Connects UsArt Connects UsThrough good times and bad, art connects us. Art brings us together. Art inspires creativity, imagination, expression, and communication. More than ever in a time of a global pandemic, we can see the impact of art. Art has the power to bridge life and imagination and help us navigate all in between. This year, our 49th annual Youth Art Month, art students and teachers have prevailed in order to bring our show to life through digital platforms. It is our hope that you find connection in art this year and forever.

March Is Youth Art Month March Is Youth Art Month The Council for Art Education (CFAE) administers Youth Art Month at the National level. Youth Art Month encourages support for quality school art programs, and promotes art material safety. The program provides a medium for recognizing skills developed through visual arts experiences unlike any other curriculum subjects, including: Problem solving, Creativity, Observation, and Communication.Art shows, special exhibits, fundraisers, and school and community activities take place annually, traditionally during March, to celebrate visual art education for grades K-12.

Mission StatementMission StatementThe mission of the Anchorage School District’s kindergarten though 12th grade visual arts education program is to promote a life-long appreciation and understanding of the arts as an integral part of peoples’ lives and environment.

“Art is a nation's most precious heritage. For it is in our works of art that we reveal to ourselves and to others the inner vision which guides us as a nation. And where there is no vision, the people perish.”

— Lyndon Johnson, on signing into existence the National Endowment on the Arts
