A Special Thanks to All Students, Staff & Parents Thanks so very much for the many thoughtful notes, cards, drawings and banners that I have received during my recovery. Each and every one has helped lift me up and helped make each day a little happier. As I continue to heal, I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Take care. Phil Parker

Spring arrived last week in a yellow haze! We are trying to keep the pollen out of our classrooms and taking what precautions we can to prevent over exposure. Our daily reports on Phil’s progress are all good. You guys have been amazingly supportive and he and Anne appreciate the cards and efforts to make their life easier! We approach Spring Break with great successes to celebrate and more fabulous events and accomplishments to come. I am very proud of our seniors who have worked hard to create post-secondary plans that will continue their successes. There are so many avenues from which they could choose, but providing guidance and encouragement is vital to taking advantage of all the options. If you are a Senior Parent, kudos! The ride may not have been smooth, but the destination is in sight! For those who are still in the upward rotation, listen and learn. Upper classmen parents can help you by sharing their experiences. The TCS staff provides a number of meetings in which they present the information you need to have and offer themselves as resources. The Wednesday Packet is loaded with helpful dates and options. And every day on campus our counselors and teachers are working to provide options, encouragement and support as our students explore their own natural traits that will contribute to their success. As you prepare for Spring Break, take a moment and review the school year. What were your expectations for your child when they first entered school? What did you expect from TCS when you enrolled here? I am asking these questions for two reasons. First, it is always a good practice to stop and take stock of where our children are and especially to acknowledge, although there may be miles to go, the progress they have made today. Also, I am including this link to our on-line survey.

http://freeonlinesurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?sid=hpu3ekifrs5pfnk1030986 Your feedback is very important to our future planning. Although we often hear how happy our parents/students are with TCS, and from parents who have suggestions for improvement, we do not hear from everyone. Your voice is important. Your perceptions and feedback are essential. Please take a few minutes to compete the survey so we can assess our own successes and determine areas of continued efforts going forward. Your teen will complete the survey here on campus. I will let you know what the results are in late April. Thanks to those of you who attended the Trout Release. Thanks to those of you who will participate in our Campus Appreciation Day in April. Thanks to the loyal sports fans who support our Spring teams. Thanks to the parents who provide our weekly goodies for staff meetings. Thanks to our parents and staff who have contributed a portion of their tax dollars to TCS through the GOAL SSO. Thanks to all of you who are contributing to and/or attending our Glitter Event. Thanks to all of our Annual Fund donors. Thank you all!!

Enjoy your Spring Break!

ALLEN WILL BE TAKING OFF ON

HIS TREK FOR PHIL

In Phil’s honor, starting this Friday, Allen will be trekking from The Cottage School to

Florida State University, where Phil attended college. For Allen, this endeavor will be

done via running, kayaking, and cycling over 350 miles.

This is Allen’s personal endeavor to motivate people to pledge time or a meal to assist

Phil and Anne during these months of treatment and recovery. By pledging your time

in two hour increments, multiple needs for the Parkers can be met. Or you may want

to take a meal to Phil and Anne by signing up to do so at the following link:

http://www.TakeThemAMeal.com Recipient Last Name: Parker Password: parker

After Allen’s completion of this trek, you will be contacted with how best your time

pledge can be utilized and the coordination of timing will be determined. Anne is

keeping up with the inside housework because guests are not allowed at this point in

Phil’s recovery.

After considering this opportunity, please return the following form to the front desk

of either the high school or middle school. Thank you.

Key Annual Fund Update

53%... of TCS Parents have either made a pledge or contribution to the 2011-2012 Key Annual Fund as of March 15, 2012! We’re over half way towards our goal of 100% parent participation in the Key Annual Fund AND we’re well on our way towards our goal of $130,000 raised to support The Cottage School’s mission and goals.

Our Annual Fund Class Representatives will be making calls SOON to secure 100% parent participation. They look forward to talking with you and answering any questions you may have. However, for your convenience, a contribution form is below, or you may make your contribution online through our secure server on our website.

Attaining 100% parent participation in the Annual Fund opens the door to the program-enhancing grants that are available through Foundations. Successful completion of future campus improvements depend upon strong support from the Foundation Community.

You, as parents, hold the Keys to Our Success as we approach these sources of funding!
